Everton fans have lavished priase on Alex Iwobi after the winger produced a superb performance in the 3-2 away win against Fulham on Sunday, reports Completesports.com.
Iwobi, 24, was given a chance by Carlo Ancelotti in a slightly alien right wing-back position at Craven Cottage.
That was necessitated by the absence of Seamus Coleman due to injury.
Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti decided to deploy three centre-halves, as he did on occasion last season, with Iwobi operating as a wing-back, and the winger actually really took to the role.
He’s often been criticised since joining the club last year, with his output not too impressive in terms of goals and assists.
But against Fulham the Nigerian was excellent, working well with Ben Godfrey who covered the space he left behind, and seeking to get forward as often as he could.
Iwobi completed 42/48 passes for an accuracy of 88%, and won eight of 12 duels. He also completed five out of six dribbles.
On social media, Everton supporters showered praise on Iwobi for his impressive showing in the capital:

Thumps up Iwobi, i have never been in doubts about his quality
Reason I call him ALEXANDER THE KING IWOBI. Such bundle of talents. Only needs love n support to give a full dose. God bless to ALEXANDER THE KING IWOBI.
Yes bro. Very laughable how some people think one Eze will walk into SE and put this guy on bench. If that happens, that is one of the few conditions that might make me turn my back on Rohr. Iwobi is an all round footballer and a team player. We are so blessed to have that guy in SE. And some ungrateful fans will sieze every opportunity to put him down. Even when he struggles at club level, he does not disappoint in Naija jersey, anytime and anyday. May the good Lord bless Alexander abundantly.
Iwobi is the new Jay Jay of this time. The guy broke records already. 10 goals in 4 years of national team football he may be the first to beat yekini records as a midfielder. The guy alongside ndidi aribo osihmen and chukueze are capable of winning afcon 2022 if well managed
I am a fan of iwobinho… but am I the only one that is wary of this his new role?
Remember this is what they did to mikel obi and we lost a natural no10 (I’m not saying Mikel didn’t do well most times, but I’m talking about that modric cum iniesta kind of no10. Heck, Mikel was compared to messi!)
Now iwobi is the new Jay Jay, but as a wingback?!
Congratulations to Iwobi. May his wonderful performance over the weekend be his least from now on… May he be injury free and continue adding goals to his performances in both club and country senior national team matches. May he gather more energy in order that he won’t lost gas after 69mins. Ameen.
If Nigeria has been looking for another no.10 to complement iwobi’s flair in the super eagles matches then, the name is OBINNA NWOBODO who plays for Goztepe in the Turkish super lig.
That guy is a bundle of talent. He bagged two assist over the weekend.
