Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp says that his team will need top mentality in their UEFA Europa Cup clash with Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday, October 5 at the Anfield Stadium.
The Reds are in the Europa League after finishing out of the top four spots in the Premier League last season.
They defeated LASK 3-1 in their first Europa Cup match this season on Thursday, September 21 at the Raffeisen Arena.
Florian Flecker scored the first goal of the game in the 14 the minute of the game.
Subsequent goals from Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Mohammed Salah sealed a comeback win for the Reds.
Speaking in the pre-match conference, Klopp said the game with Union Saint-Gilloise will be special game.
“We had a good spirit before that (Saturday’s game at Tottenham), I didn’t need any kind of proof but that is how it is in football, you need to prove yourself all the time,” liverpoolfc.com quoted Klopp as saying.

“It was really special, top mentality and this is what we need tomorrow (against Union Saint-Gilloise). We face a team that is flying in the league, they are top of the table and are doing really well. It’s super special what they are doing there and we will be ready.

Liverpool are currently first place in Group E of the 2023/24 Europa League with three points after matchday one.
The Reds have won Europa League three times (1972/73, 1975/76 and 2000/01).
They are currently fourth place on the Premier League table with 16 points after seven games.
Union Saint-Gilloise have never won the UEFA Europa Cup.
Union Saint-Gilloise are third place in Group E of the 2023/24 Europa League.
