England’s right-back Kyle Walker has insisted that his Manchester City teammate Rodri has ‘weaknesses’ in his game which can be exploited in Sunday’s Euro final.
England and Spain will square off in Sunday night’s European Championships final in Berlin.
The last two seasons have seen Manchester City’s Euro 2024 final contingent claim a staggering six trophies at club level, while Rodri was crown winner of the UEFA Nations League last summer as part of a true revival of the Spanish national team.
But despite the widespread admiration for Rodri’s performances for both Manchester City and Spain, City teammate, Walker, has been somewhat critical.
Speaking exclusively to talkSPORT ahead of England’s showdown with Spain on Sunday night, Walker has insisted while he is aware of the outstanding qualities of Rodri, he and his Three Lions teammates have seen videos that outline his ‘weaknesses’.
“He’s a great player, and he controls the game and dictates the game at his own pace as I know at club level,” Walker admitted. “But we’ve seen video clips [of him], I know him first and foremost, there’s weaknesses in everyone’s game. No one’s the perfect article.”

“But we need to try and exploit those weaknesses as best as we can and get the players that we have in dangerous areas to go and make sure that they can go score the goals. And as a defence, we need to make sure we keep clean sheets.”
England would be hoping to overcome the heartbreak of three years ago, when they lost on penalties to Italy inside Wembley stadium in the 2020 Euros.
For Spain, they would be targeting a record fourth European Championship crown, having won it in 1964, 2008 and 2012.

I don’t think Walker said anything wrong here.
He acknowledged that Rodri is a good player, but has weaknesses. Which is to be expected. I’m yet to meet a human who doesn’t have weaknesses.
Walker said England will attempt to exploit any weaknesses. Again, that’s what it’s all about. We are talking about a cup final here. The Euros for that matter.
Spain vs England.
If I was a betting man, my money would be on La Furia Roja.
But wily old Northgate and company are dangerous opponents. I just might lose my money!
