England midfielder, Mason Mount has revealed how Wembley fans helped the players to achieve their ambition against Croatia.
Mount, who was part of the Chelsea squad that won this year’s UEFA Champions League, expressed delight with the team winning start in Euro 2020.
He shone for Gareth Southgate’s side in their 1-0 victory over Mateo Kovacic’s Croatia side, with the three points coming courtesy of a second-half strike from Raheem Sterling.
“Then the sun kicks in and of course you expect to get a little tired, but we continue to push Croatia and that was pleasing because our counter press is something we’ve really tried to work on this week.
“I thought the way we managed the game was very good and the most important thing is to be stood here knowing we’ve got three points from our first group game, which it really pleasing.

“It was brilliant to have the fans in the stadium and they really made a difference. Before the game, I was really looking forward to lining up and singing the national anthem in front of them and it was a really special moment.
“Having the fans around you and joining in really gives you goosebumps. It’s something that I will remember for a long time and having them here supporting us really does give us that extra bit of motivation that could prove vital as the tournament goes on.
“We want to make them proud and winning this first game is a good start.”
