Stoke City manager Michael O’Neill has admitted that Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo is keen on a move away from the Potters.
O’Neill stated this ahead of Stoke’s first home game of the new Championship season against Blackpool.
Etebo returned from his loan spell at Watford but reports indicate that he could exit Stoke before the close of the summer transfer window.
His loan spell at Watford did not go as planned as he spent Close to five months on the sidelines due to a torn quad muscle injury that required surgery.

And since O’Neill took over as Stoke boss in November 2019, Etebo has not been utilized by the Northern Irishman, making the matchday squad on two occasions without making any appearance.
Recall Etebo has been loaned out to Getafe in Spain and Turkish outfit Galatasaray, playing on a regular basis for both teams.
And speaking ahead of this weekend’s round of Championship fixtures, O’Neill said the 2018 World Cup star is not yet in top condition.
“Peter’s been away from the club for two and a half years,” The Irish coach was quoted by Stoke Sentinel.
“In that period he’s been on three different loans. He previously hasn’t returned in pre-season, this pre-season he has returned and he played some games for Nigeria at the end of last season. He had quite a bad injury last season with Watford so missed quite a portion of the season.
“He’s not fit enough to train with the squad yet and I think in his mind he’s still looking for a permanent exit from the club. It’s very difficult for us as a club to rewind two-and-a-half years but he’s still our player, he’s contracted to the club and we’re duty bound to look after him, which is what we’re doing.”

I recommend Etebo to join Valencia or Real Socidad or Real Betis at La Liga or to join Nice or Marsielle or Lyonnais at lige One in France so that he will play at Europa Cup or UEFA, he must not from up to now join small club which can’t offer for him a technical and tactical traits.
What about Real Madrid, Barcelona, or Atletico Madrid. At worst he can manage Juventus, Bayern Munich or AC Milan.
Etebo should go to Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal. Those are the only clubs he can manage in England.
Lol. He’d be lucky to make any of their youth teams
CSN is been long I READ from my WOMAN PLUPTRE…
Please kindly FEED me with her NEWS.
Thanks!
I feel there could be something internally wrong with etebo and the club.. How can a player who started games with the national team and played as a substitute with Watford in the EPL be declared not fit to train with a championship squad.. There is something they are not telling us
All this is as result of a world cup bound national team first 11 player moving to a division 2 team on the eve of the world cup…….once SE players get hold of the starting shirt in SE they usually neglect their club career……That is why the national team handlers should attach top5 level club football as a requirement for national team selection no matter what you have done for the national team in the past……..it will be difficult at the beginning but we will get it right with time……. Senegal, Belgium, Switzerland should be case studies.
Stoke weren’t a division two club when he signed, as a stoke fan I can say that etebo has a terrible attitude, and was one of many reasons as to why they were relegated.
That move before the last world cup was a terrible one… Etebo wanted to play in England by all means and it affected his decision making…
A player who was the player of the season in his first season at the club can no longer make the team even if on the bench.. Huge lesson to younger players.. Take your time before you sign any contract
This is the sort of career suicide we talk about when people make excuses for making dangerous moves to struggling teams in order to attract big teams.
“If he does well at Stoke he will get a better club” was the chorus we heard 4 years ago too when we condemned this move.
Any news from Dennis yet…? Or is it still media PR jobs here and there…???
That dude should probably start preparing himself psychologically for the championship this season
Clubs won’t value you when you don’t value yourself.. Etebo had lots of offers in other leagues but he wanted English football for all means… After a fairly good world cup performance, he would have probably gotten a team in the EPL but he didn’t consider all these variables he jumped into stock city and they no longer rate him…
We cannot blame etebo he was young and came from a poor background… What annoys me is that stock city is a playing so well either and etebo has what it takes to push them to the EPL but they slide line him… Release him or terminate his contract let me go to a place he is wanted
Dr. Drey and OLOLO are right there..I don’t understand why a player at the eve of WC will join a SECOND DIVISION team
Isn’t it after a WC that suitors will come for you? And to think ETEBO was the top dribbler in that 2018 WC where he did 9/10 takes one even beaten MESSI and MODRIC in the process
What an insult by ordinary KICK AND FOLLOW STOKE CITY!
Imagine disrespecting a player who played over 20 matches for GETAFE who are a better team than Stoke City Fc
