Super Eagles duo, Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina will now work under a new manager at Premier League club, Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest announced the sacking of their head coach Steve Cooper on Tuesday.
Cooper spent over two years at the City Ground.
He played an integral part in Forest’s return to the Premier League, cementing himself firmly into the Club’s rich history after guiding The Reds back into England’s top-flight.

I didn’t see this coming. Cooper has done a decent job in keeping a small club like Nottingham Forest competitive in the premier league. Granted, they used to be a big club, but today, they are not. What do they expect from Cooper? Win the league? Or they want to qualify for Europe? Hahaha.
They just might regret this in the end. This was how Chelsea made the monumental mistake of sacking Tuchel, and it’s been downhill ever since.
I don’t expect Cooper to be unemployed for too long. Some clubs somewhere would likely want him to come help them out. If NFF ONIGBESE were doing their jobs properly, it is coaches like this that we should be looking at. In fact, coaches like Cooper could be on our standby list, just in case we fail to get an elite coach. The elite coach, of course, should be our target. In my opinion, examples of elite coaches are Xabi Alonso, Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, Carlo Ancelotti, Roberto Martinez, Zinedine Zidane, Thomas Tuchel, Unai Emery, etc.
Yes, they are expensive. But better soup, na money kill am. Do we want success or not? If we want success, it will not come cheap.
The coach we have is a reflection of our ambition. If we opt for mediocrity by hiring a BEND DOWN SELECT coach, then we have to tone down our expectations accordingly.
@Pompei, Nigeria can’t employ those coaches you listed, not even Cooper. We don’t have such ambition and we’d better let them be because we will owe them all kinds of money. The best Nigeria can do is to look for individuals like Peseiro who is so cheap and twistable to the point where he had to take a pay cut to get a contract from employers who are still indebted to him on the first contract. You also remember the issue of “sorting”, contract padding and people they have to “tip” to get the job. Player imposition, government interference and awkward handling of players’ welfare make Nigeria a difficult terrain for any sane coach to work. See, if we get any coach, local or foreign who turns out to he good, it will be that coach who has no pedigree before taking the job, not because he’s not good, but because he hasn’t got the opportunity to be, and Nigeria giving that opportunity, he will take it with two hands and gets down to giving us his best. An example is Clemence Westerhoff and Bonfere Jo. We are so unserious as a nation.
