Nigeria winger Alex Iwobi struggled as Everton held Tottenham Hotspur to a 1-1 draw in their Premier League clash at the Goodison Park on Sunday night, reports Completesports.com.
Dele Alli capitalized on Iwobi’s slack midfield pass to put Tottenham Hotspur ahead in the 69th minute.
Heung-Min Son collected the ball and fed Alli, the England man skipped past Lucas Digne and slotted coolly into the bottom corner from 18 yards.
Turkey forward Cenk Tosun however equalised for the hosts in the 97th minute after Andre Gomes suffered a horrific ankle injury, for which Heung-Min Son saw red.
Iwobi played the entire duration of the game.
He has one goal in nine league appearances for Everton this season.
Everton next game is away to Southampton on Saturday.

i dont want to see iwobi news again, except he cut off those dirty in his head. iwobi was doin father-christmas with the ball just like it happen against brazil. anyway aribo will displace him just sooner.
He had a total of 45 touches for the whole of 90 minutes…
He plays too much to instructions..
Change wing, come back for passes, move into the box…
All these he won’t…
He is really getting me angry lately, if not for the likeness I have for him..
I go dey curse am all the time…
If he was that bad why was he left on for the duration of the game?
Perhaps he was left on because the club hasn’t found a better replacement yet?
thats what keeps him in heart of nigerians, the love he grow in our heart. i had a boast with many foreign arsenal fans, that i said iwobi is bigger than arsenal. i use my own hand type to them that i will remember them when he take the epl by storm. instead progressing, iwobi chose to retrogress. he prove me wrong by provin his doubters right. now they re trollin me, i can’t even visit my account again. all his dribbling have gone. his senses have been drained out.
Only if GR is brave enough to try Amoo, many won’t like it and say he isn’t ready yet he is too young. Can u blif the #10 Mvoue of Cameroon has made the indomitable lions team and I don’t think he is more talented than Amoo. Who knows if we had tried Rabiu Ibrahim when he was younger he may have gone on to be a fantastic player. We are here clamoring for Ebere Eze when we have a very creative player like Amoo and a left footed for that matter (lil messi) with an eye for the incisive pass and a proven goal scorer (even though he is yet to score at the u17 world cup). GR should be brave and try this young man out even if just to give him d experience. My philosophy is that if u are good enough u r old enough. His dribbles and passes are purposeful. Midfield of ndidi-aribo-amoo with kalu and chukwueze flanking them and osimen upfront is mouth watering to me. There is skill, speed, physicality, and plenty plenty entertainment. 9ja will be playing total football. My opinion.
I believe if we had done that for kelechi Nwakali immediately after the 2015 U-17 World Cup, he would have been a main-stay in the Super Eagles by now and would have been in a better Club. Nwakali is a Complete No.10 and he would have sealed that spot had it been he was given the chance. We have Nwakali, Amoo and we are busy chasing one yeye EBERE EZE! Ebere Eze is no where, No where near the talent that is embedded in both Nwakali and Amoo…you can chose to Argue with your ancestors if you disagree
God bless you @Proudly 9ja. I’ve also been dreaming of seeing AMOO in the Super Eagles as soon as the FIFA U-17 World Cup is over but can’t say it out due to Nigerian mentality of “He’s too young”. I don’t know when Nigeria will change that childish mindset of looking down on Young Starlets in the name of Experience. If France had same mentality, I bet no one will know about KYLIAN MBAPPE today. But they saw that at a very young age, the Lad is good enough and they took him to the Big stage(WORLD CUP for that matter!) and benched the so-called Experience players for him and the Country never regret making that decision.
Just look at what Nigeria Super Eagles has turned to of recent ever since we started featuring Young and excellent players while we keep the so-called experience either out of the team or on the bench while the young ones play, we are now known for the Naija Attacking Instinct we had in those days and sweet football. Akinwunmi AMOO is a talented young baller. Dribbling-Top notch! Passes-accurate! reminds one of the Okocha deft touch and MIKEL Obi’s long and accurate passes and also has an eye for goal. My People, What are we looking for again??? Which other No. 10 are we looking for to take over from Iwobi?? What we are looking for in Sokoto, is already in our Sokóto! Coach Gernot Rohr should please and please play this guy straight into the National team and watch him WOW the whole world with his talent!

My broda u took d words outta my mouth concerning Kylian mbappe. Small Eto made d indomitable lions at 16. Pele made selecao at age 15. The mistake GR did in my view is playing Nwakali in a stupid game against Liberia. I call dat match stupid bcos that match should have been played by d likes of okocha, taribo west, celestine babayaro, oliseh, anokachi etc bcos how can our YOUNG TEAM be playing against George Weah and his former teammates. There is no way that if I were a young player would I take dat game seriously. Na see d kain big big belle wen play dat day? I think GR goofed when after one game he stopped inviting Nwakali, esiti has played many games under GR providing very little but he kept getting call ups. Same can be said of Shehu, Onuachu, even idowu (his I understand as we don’t have a very good left back but awusie and madu comes to mind but I blif d club they play for don’t help dia respective cases). In my opinion I think some should help struggling players encountering rough patches in dia careers especially d ones who have helped the team. The individual I am referring to is Iheanacho, most will agree that Kele is a goal scorer anyday anytime. To me instead of inviting onuachu why not invite Kele and actually play him alongside Osimen, that would be loyalty and I blif Kele will reward that loyalty by giving more than 100%. Betterstill as a coach he could tell Kele to join d u23 afcon team to help his ministry lol as regards to d January transfer window. I know people will say dats not GR job but by telling him that he is in his plans but that for now he should join d u23 and not see it as a demotion but as a way to still be relevant. Moreover Kele has never played at d olympics so he will grab it with both hands if GR adds his voice. Kele is still 22yrs right and is still qualified to partake in d Olympics. His presence in d current u23 team will almost guaranteed to qualify for Tokyo. Umar Sadiq is another player GR should have invited ahead of Onuachu, He is tall, fast, skillful and has eyes for goals. He is a proven scorer for clubs and country while onuachu is a club player. My take.
Ebere Eze is no where, No where near the talent that is embedded in both Nwakali and Amoo…you can chose to Argue with your ancestors if you disagree
confirmed, is Golden Eaglets vs Netherland .
Yes ooo. it will be an excellent game. Please I have a question for all my fellow forumites, which team is more tactical and technical, Netherlands or Nigeria? I will go with 9ja. Please I will appreciate it if people can let us know b4 d match not after it. Who would win? I pick 9ja to win d match as well. Please don’t sit on d fence, pick a team. 9ja all d way. Also I see Senegal beating Spain if d referee is fair. Angola beating South Korea as well. I see 3 African teams in d round of 16.
Japan appears the most impressive so far. Their #14 is a good midfielder. Cameroon failed badly. I don’t see how Senegal can beat Spain. Nigeria can beat Netherlands if we raise our game. But if we play the way we have been playing, we are coming home.
I agree with you on Amoo. He should be drafted into Super Eagles immediately. But NFF and highly influential former eagle players won’t let that happen. Or you think they can just remove Okocha’s nephew like that? Another kid the NFF should run after is Tosin Kehinde of Man U. The kid is a baller.
By the way, Rohr said Osimheb was at last AFCON to learn but a few months after the tournament the young man made name for himself in French league. Now, Barca, AC and Bayern want him.
My broda I agree with u that Japan has been the most impressive so far as dia team is a well balanced team. They are not as selfish as many other teams are. They pass d ball around very well and can be lethal in front of goal. Any team dat can beat 9ja bro that team is good. Watch out for the so called minnow Australia, they will shock teams in d tournament b4 it all set and done. I didnt want us to play Netherlands yet, I was hoping for Chile. Not sure how they decided it as Chile and the Netherlands had dsame # of pts and GD of -1 but we get Netherlands and Brazil got Chile. Was it cos Brazil got d max 9pts and we only had 6pts. Anyway I still think we will be fine against Netherland. Our so called wingbacks have to stay home and pick when they go forward. We need to congest that midfield dsame way the Senegalese played them. To NE ooo, this is a game where olusegun should come from d bench and let Ubani be d point man upfront not play from d wings as Manu has been playing him. I think we need opeyemi in dis game to provide another body in d midfield. He is a good player and works hard for d team but his final balls needs to get better. He should also learn to shoot from outside the box when d opportunity presents itself not try to work d ball into d next. If Adeniyi goes up then etim must stay back to provide cover. He should stop going to d middle to try and clear d ball as he tends to 4get dat a forward might be lurking behind him. Said and Ikenna’s positional play needs to be better especially when wingers are coming down d flanks after beating adeniyi or etim on d right and left respectively. one should cover d near post while d other stays in d middle to intercept and clear crosses. Hamzat will be crucial in dis game, he and Tijani are a joy to watch, strong and full of running. All in all I see 9ja winning. If we don’t concede early and we score early then d game is good as done imho. wishing d super golden eaglets best of luck.
Please ma brodas don’t get ahead of yourselves.
So if you are to handle the Super Eagles Job today you would give clubless Amoo and Nwakali automatic shirts abi because you saw them play with ‘mommy thank ma boys’.
In fact I dey vex as I de write this thing sef’, but let me be logical.
How would you call someone like mbappe, Eto in the same context of Nwakali,Rabiu and Amoo.that was the same way Mr.keshi sentimentally took Ejike uzoenyi who could not even be professional enough to secure playing time in a kick around league like South Africa, after a little flash in the pan Chan display.
Mbappe and Edo are in the same league with pele, messi, Ronaldos et al of this world.
Mbappé started his senior career playing for Ligue 1 club Monaco, where he made his professional debut in 2015` aged 16. With the Monegasque side, he won a Ligue 1 title, Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year and the Golden Boy award. In 2017, Mbappé signed for league rivals Paris Saint-Germain on an initial loan, which was made permanent a year later in a transfer worth €180 million, making him the second most expensive player, and most expensive teenager, ever.In Paris, Mbappé won two Ligue 1 titles, a Coupe de France title, and a Coupe de la Ligue title, which included a domestic treble in his debut season, and finished as the league’s top goalscorer and Player of the Year in his second season.
Most of the above was before the 2018 world cup ooh!!!
Tell me what Nwakali and all our little messi’s have done to justify super Eagles Jersey, even Iheanacho blew away the city academy before he was included to their senior squad same for Chukwueze with Villareal. A good footballer is a gold Fish anywhere, everywhere, anyday, anytime, and totally indispensable example the young pullisic of the USA.
Once upon a time coach Egueavon called up a certain little messi in Okoro.S for a senior international match and after 10-15 mins of being subbed in he was immediately subbed out, i no know whether that one still be footballer sef as we speak.
A word is enough for …
Take a chill pill and please stay off hard drugs~
Oga Samchi…. be like you dey vex o
Soemttimes we allow sentiments to make us write some things that are incorrect. So Amoo is better than iwobi now. And if Nwakali is great how come he is not making impact in europe. Yes i agree they have potentials but they should go out there and prove themselves first. You cant just bring them in to bench established players in tbe team. Most timea we only look at the play on the field we dont look at other factors that ensure tge success of a team. Who says iwobi cant come home and play god against benin. He has helped the super eagles before. He is having game time in his club so he deserves to be called up and given his chance. I think the problem with nwobi is coaches using him in positions that is suited to him. In this case – wings. He has given us great performance before in this role. Same thing at arsenal. Nwakali and amoo should show what they have got in their clubs in europe first. This is tge super eagles of nigeria. Even onuachu is getting game time and i scoring in europe.
That was how they kept calling Stanley okoro little Messi and he got invited to super eagles by inexperienced egeavon and he meesed up himself.
A coach like Rohn can’t make such error, you are compering nmmape to amoo, pls don’t let this things get to his head so he doesn’t disappoint against Holland, plz I beg una..
Amoo is good yes, but he is not in first 11 currently in u17 team and needs to score a goal at least so a good club can get him. When he does well for a good club no coach would in his right sense not invite him to super eagles.. Lets not jump process.. That’s our problem in this country we like short cut, what club does Amoo play for, I’m asking those who recommended him for super eagles
Nigeria has a problem with rushing young players and it sets them up to fail.
With most under 17 squads you will find 3 or so players that make it to the top. Many who will go on to average careers in football and some who do not make it at as as professional footballers.
Yes, some countries have a “golden generation” but this is an exception and not the rule. Osimhen was rushed to the Super Eagles in 2017 and couldn’t do anything. In fact he was struggling at Wolfsburg for two or is it three years, before he found his feet.
The natural progression is U17 to U20, to U23 to SE and only two or three make this progression. From the 201: squad we have Awoniyi, Chidera Ezeh, and maybe another, from the 2015 squad we have Nwakali, Okonkwo, Duru, Lazarus, . From the 2017 squad we have Igbo Ogbu making this climb.
Chukwueze, Osimhen and Uzoho were made to go down a leg to help their peers against Libya earlier in the year.
You will find countries with a youth development culture will send their youth players to the second or third division to learn their craft or play in the youth teams of top clubs. But us? We want to throw them straight into the Super Eagles.
“Look at Mbappe” people will say, and I respond “yes but where are his other 22 team mates”? Not every player has the potential, skill or support that Mbappe gets. He is given the best coaching that France has to offer. A Nigerian player will be expected to hit the ground running.
Left to me, the bulk of the U17 team of 2013 would be moved from under 20 to U23 if we could same as the U17 of 201(, but some cannot even come to camp because of visa issue. It is for this very reason that Lukman Zakari cannot honour the invitation to camp. And this very reason why Kelechi Nwakali did not finish the season with porto B. He could not get back into the country as his visa expired.
A decent country would have a good league and a youth development policy, run a youth league. But ours will camp 50, cut to 35, then 25 and then go to competiton
amoo is too young. perharp he will fail his career if dragged to the super eagle at this young age. after 2 or 3 matches, he will fall his career, just like every other nigerian. like rabiu, etc. aribo is not CM. but CAM. he will flop just sooner as “centre midfielder”. no player is able to attack more than left footer aribo as midfielder. aribo is too impressed as CAM for ranger registered 3assists and deny by woodwork for a goal. with 6successful dribbles. no player will able to attack more than aribo.
Abah! I see dis as a betrayal from u guys to iwobi. For christ sake wat have iwobi done wrong. This guy has given all to us and dis is how u pay him. I dont think aribo is better than iwobi not at all infact iwobi is bigger than rangers for now, iwobi scored the opening goal in zambia he also did against zambia at home. He scored two against argentina he scored against cameroun gave alot of assist to ighalo. He brought life into our midfield even jay jay at iwobi age never got it so right as the young lad has bin doing with eagles abeg una make take am easy with iwobi he is our biggest shot as far as i am consign. Chukwueze that we where all clamouring for has only given us one goal after about 6 games for eagles. I dont think he has any assist at the moment, though i wish him well but u guys dont want to talk about him. Pls leave iwobi alone he is inreplacable for now and still better than Mikel obi that couldnt qualify for two afcon
