Team Nigeria’s Bolaji Eniola secured a dominant victory against India’s Mandeep Kahur (21-8, 21-14) in the opening match of the women’s singles SL3 category in a Group B clash at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Badminton event held at La Chapelle Arena Court 3.
This win marks Nigeria’s first triumph at the 17th edition of the Paralympics.

In a thrilling 29-minute encounter, Eniola showcased her prowess, firing on all cylinders to outclass her opponent with a 13-point margin, winning the first game 21-8 before taking a break.
She resumed the second game with zeal, extending her lead to finish with a 7-point margin, 21-14.
Eniola’s victory places her at the top of the group, ahead of India’s Mandeep Kahur and Australia’s Vinot Celine, who are in second and third positions, respectively.
The Paris 2024 Paralympics which began on August 28 and will conclude on September 8, offer Nigeria a chance to rebound from a medal-less performance at the recent Paris Olympics.
Nigeria’s delegation includes 23 athletes: five in athletics, two in badminton, nine in powerlifting, and eight in table tennis.
