Thank God for Mr Waldrum!
Bless the Lord that he is not like these dumbass Nigerians all on here giving grieh to the “WE THE REAL NIGERIANS” Who only want the best and nothing but the best for our dear country!
Thank God that the primitives, knuckleheads, illiterates, bad belle bastard borntroways are led by the “greatSLAVE” are not the ones making the crucial calls for our future and happiness!
Thank God that Oga Waldrum has a BRAIN and has listened to the sensible NIgerians who have their eyes open and are willing to stand in line and face the vitriol and hatred from the “bastard” so called “Nigerians like the great slave, that cockroach sean, the demented Femi including some dumbass “karimi” tools who write a lot of senselessness and their !OPONU” followers who hal them because they are fooled by long sentences and stupid brainless analysis – What a pity!!
Thank God that Oga Waldrum has given us a great chance by starting with the recommended team – Thank you Mr WALDRUM for starting OSHOALA ON THE BENCH! In favour of a more potent and dynamic team!! Thank You Jesus!!!
The team Which I have always recommended along with many of us patriotic Nigerians – Omo9ja, Myself and many others (If I have not mentioned you, it’s not because you are not recognised but only a function of time! You are all carried!!!
God bless Nigeria and whatever happens from here in – Forza Nigeria!! Forza Super Falcons!! Go with God as you go to battle!! May the Lord who was with David when he confronted Goliath be with you on crucial day!!
Win or lose – we are with our girls all the way!
OYA LET’S GOOO!

So u have this field marshal as a NIGERIAN?
No wonder the GIANT IS BIG for nothing haha
@ FIELD MARSHAL
Now they are fighting for every ball; one thing that had been missing in all their previous matches. Well done, Plumptre, Onumonu, Ajibade, Alozie, and Payne, We see you 🙂

Omo!!
Plumptre nearly scored!!!
In your face mr analysis always criticising Plumptre – Blind tools lol!
POO MARSHAL haha
Dumb as a pair of HAND KERCHIEFS haha
The instruction is clear……Ayinde, follow James to the toilet if you have to….!!! Nice on Waldrum
Yes o!
Oh my God this girls are making me proud, as we speak we have more shot on goals than England, Ashley hit the cross bar
And who told you we have more shots on goal??? We had more shots but less on target compared to England. We will be proud after the win and not because of missing chances. Mentality is something that is hurting the nation, you think if we keep missing chances that anyone will remember this your funny analysis???
@chima pls rate the officiating so far.
Very good but can be better.
Plumptre is having the game of her life. Well done!
My PLUM PLUM BABY (PLUMPTRE) is just BALLING funny enough she is only a DEFENDER..
LOL! talk about brainlessness!
Talking out of every side of your moronic mouth lol!
Turncoat of the century – karimi master – jack of all trades…master of none!

SMH
AH!! DEM DON START OOHH!!!!
OJORO!!!
Commonnnn Ajibade…..dont do that…!!!
Thank you VAR…!!!
Ajibade dont ever do that again.
That last minute nudge of the opponent in the penalty box almost put us in trouble.
Too true Dr Drey, we must not give the referee reason to punish us.
JESU TAKE THE WHEELS!
OYA OVER TO YOU NADOZIE!!
THAT IS NEVER A PENALTY!!!!!
NOT IN A MILLION YEARS!!!
JESUS IS IN CONTROL!
THANK YOU BABA!!
HANDBALL FROM BRIGHT!!
HOW IS NOBODY EVEN MENTIONING THAT??
IS IT ONLY ME WHO SAW THE HANDBALL???
AH JESU!!
They’re fraud they never view our claims!!!
Chima –
Thank you my broda – you know that you are carried!!
WE NEED TO WATCH JAMES ON THE EDGE OF THE BOX FROM THOSE SET PIECES!
CAN’T BE ALLOWING HER TO SHOOT FROM THAT DISTANCE!!!
Oh my world,I love the super falcon, shame on the doubting Thomases
Am unable to join the link please.
Why can’t the girls even string passes and try controlling the game like England is doing? This is so predictable with sloppy passes what our girls are doing… it’s below the level I expect at this stage.
Which game are you watching? These girls are playing the game of their lives. Are you kidding me? They are even dominating England by having more shots on goal.
Akpamu @jimmyball. Below you expect nye nye nye nye. Mmmmmttttccchhheeeewwwww
26 mins.
A deep cross, James skies it but somehow England is awarded a corner. Daly forces another save from ?Nnadozie who has been excellent in goal for the Super Falcons not just today but through out this tournament. She is so dependable
30 mins
England give a penalty. A soft one as far as I am concerned. The England player went down too easy with the slightest of touches. This referee has given England everything. VAR suggests the referee should have another look at it.
34 mins.
VAR overrules the referee and she withdraws the penalty award after reviewing it on the screen
35 minutes
A chance for Nigeria. Carter blocks Ajibade’s shot and the follow up leads to a free kick. Tina Payne on free kick duty but it is headed wide.
39 mins
England stretch Nigeria and win a corner. Headed out, James meets it on a volley but it is high wide and handsome.
Karen Bardsley
Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live
If I’m being honest, from what I have seen from Nigeria before the World Cup, I wasn’t expecting them to be at this level.
However throughout the group stages I was very impressed by them, strong in defence, lacking in midfield a bit.
But so far they have been one heck of a team!
Guys, make una give me link to watch this match for Yankee
Fox Sport 1 on TV
I just pray we shut these biased commentators up…They probably thought it’ll be an easy ride for the English team….A team that struggled to beat Haiti.
Onumonu and Kalu can do better but kudos to all the girls they are playing the their best in the a game that I’m sure is the biggest of their lives…
Anything is possible. This is the best organized and disciplined I’ve seen a Nigerian team on the global stage in the highest level. Demehin is kinda jittery, but she’s a rookie. Ucheibe what a baller?? Plumtre on my God just unlucky. Let’s go ladies you’re doing us proud.
Ayinde should be recruited into the police force immediately after her football career. She go sabi hunt down criminal targets well well.
She is so far doing a great job limiting the influence of James on this game.
Meanwhile, Onumonu and Kanu are also doing a great job of getting the England defence busy. I mean really busy. Hopefully they can help us wear them out by the hour mark and let the speedy ones like Assisat and Monday come on to finish them off.
And if we need more bullies, Oparanozie can come in handy.
Weldone to the girls so far.
The girls are trying sha. They tired a bit toward the end of the half but I see this as 50-50 either way. Good from our goalie, the battling midfielders ayinde and ucheibe and of course the indefatigable plumptre. We are outshooting the english 8-5. Keep it up
Brethren, so far so good. I am glad I stayed up to watch this game. Nigeria is really doing well. May God give them victory in Jesus’ name, amen. Ms. Dimehin, doesn’t seem to play with great confidence, but I think they have all done well.
The English diver and gymnast wanted to win a dubious penalty for England.
41 mins
Clever give and go between Ajibade and Plumtre and eventually Ajibade wins a throwing.
45 mins + 4 mins
Half time. England 0 Nigeria 0. The lionesses started in business like fashion and were on top early on. The Super falcons then took control with their cleverness, skill organisation and pure ability. The hit the cross bar and had 8 shots on goal. They should have gone up on top. England had a doggy penalty award overuled after VAR intervention. It could go either way.
Nigeria still have their golden girl Oshoala to to come on in the second half. It looks a tasty prospect.
Before the match all the talk in the England media is how they expect Nigeria to make a special plan for Lauren James and maybe double up or triple up on her. No sign of that so far and the disciplined Nigerian defence have reduced her to only 20 touches (second fewest of the Lionesses in the first half).
@greenturf.. it’s not previous.. I am watching now and have been watching the entire final from there..
Watch @ http://www.plus.fifa.com
One imbecile that want to just come here to be talking gibberish like a he goat on heat should continue. I have all day all morning today for any miserable twat. I wish our ladies all the best. Let no bad luck uncouth scalawag soil our day.
Already satisfied. Thumbs up to these beautiful Angels and a bigger thumbs up yo Waldrum n crew. A win just an icing on the cake
I said it here once that James haven’t met her fellow Africans , her biggest test, that was why people see her as 11 in 1 player. How far now?
Kudos to naija ladies. I’m so happy right now, I don’t have the time mto give response to any Idiotic comments. One Love Super Falcons, One Love Waldrum, One Love Nigeria!
Omo that may be the case but it only takes a moment oh!
We must not sleep on her – let’s just say, so far so good but the wars is not yet won – the batlles is only at halfway point –
Oh my God! it seems we are playing against the cross bar today and not England. God should crown our efforts with success
45 mins + 4 mins

——————————————————
Second half
46 mins
The BBC don’t want England to rely on penalties to qualify. There is still 45 minutes plus injury time. Ajibade with her txickerycreates a crossing opportunity on the self and Kanu’s header again hits the cross bar. If Nigeria don’t win this , they would rue these misses.
48 mins
England mount an attack of their own but Alozie in the right full back position deals with the threat.
51
Again it’s Ajibade causing problem in Nigerias attack and wins a corner on the left. Plumber’s header comes to nothing.
53
The super falcons combine beautifully on the right, the low cross evades everyone in the box and England fans breathe easy again.
54 mins
Kemp goes down after a nudge and the referee awards England a free gingko in a dangerous position on the left. Teasing cross is nodded wide by Russo for a Nigerian goal kick. A chance for England but the game remains goalless
Ah! Mehn this Oshoala! – well Oga Waldrum knows best!
Asisat has zero touch, zero impact, she should NEVER have been brought on yet – not until like 80 mins onward but God is in control!
I hope we can still sub her off oh!!!
This is the best game so far in this fifa world tournerment
LORRY LAUREN JAMES is PROBABLY SUFFERING from FATIGUE from the CHINA GAME.
We all saw how SHE really OVERWORKED HERSELF…
Maybe that’s why she ain’t showing up in this MATCH..
ENGAGING you will not be allowing me to enjoy the match like my GENTLEMAN @GREENTURF adviced..
So let me just be ignoring you for later….
Bro, you are wrong. Just be sincere with the truth. She has been put under check by Ayinde. Now I know you are not really a Nigerian. But thank you for your interest in our affairs. It’s like you love Nigeria more than your country of birth.
You are a very big fool
Nigerians will not see the amount of time it is taking their players to get the ball back into play now o.
When the 4th official now awards 10 minutes of injury time, they will open their wide mouths filled with rotten teeth to cry about racism……LMAOOoo
Ayphilly,
You were spot on when you said, regardless of the outcome, this Nigeria team has done well.
I am ever so proud that he even stuck with 4-2-3-1 in a manner that allowed them to take the fight to England.
Nigeria has surprised me but they need to take a chance once it comes again and shut me up again.
Na your generation be slave. I’m not an old fool like you who only come here to talk trash. A fool at 50 plus Werey
Nnadozie no gree
Field Marshall I’m shocked someone will rain insults from no where if not Inferiority complex or insecurity once they sense you’re doing great…. LMAO ignore these things and focus on this match. Nigeria might make us proud today!!!
Another miserable old fool spotted. Ghana refuge Lmao! Enemy of progress. Whatever the result they’ve already made us proud. 1 million of una never reach.
LMAO bushman talking trash without facts. Even if I was a Ghanaian based how does it affect your miserable self. Omo park well your Yeye don too smell village man I won’t be wasting a sec of my time more on nonsense like you.

If u happened to be born in ghana, the ASHANTIS wldve sold u and ur whole likes into slavery becasue u GOOD FOR NOTHING haha
A MAN that writes in CAPITAL LETTERS on public platform has an IQ like babes DIAPERS haha
@ CHIMP MARSHAL
Agba baller……..haba, control that ball past the defender a little bit before taking the shot. Stop playing like Opeyemi Ajakaye……..!!!
Ordega, great introduction.
NADOZIE is surely the WOMAN of the MATCH…
But hope all this chances from the sf won’t hunt?
Where’s AGBA BALLER OSHOALA please do something
I must say – Oshoala is playing slightly better than she has today – shows they have been speaking with her to drop ego and just play ball – one or two things in the last 5 mins have been better!
Let’s hope she stays grounded and God will crown her efforts with a goal!!
Why not bring in Oparanozie??? Omg Waldrum has started !!!
Kanu!! What a baller!!
Kudos to you my sister and God bless!
Oya Ordega – let them have some “Akpuka”!! Rough them English TF up!
Ordega has declined for the past two years and Ajibade is also following suit. Kanu is the girl to go at the moment and this coach took her off and brought nonsense in. Now we can’t create chances again even with a woman advantage. Boboclat of a coach!!!
Na red na
Why dont Nigerian players know how to act drama sef.
How can you get stamped on like that and not roll from Brisbane to Perth for heavens sake….???
lol
Still awake. Nigeria has done very well.
Has to be a red card
OMG! Alozie frausterated Lauren James and now she has gotten a red card. I love this ladies
OH SHIT!!
RUSSO GONE THANK GOD
KELLY ON YAWA OH!!!
Oya Superintendent Ayinde…..you are hereby transferred from James Division to Kelly Division with immediate effect.
We can win this match. Let’s stay strong and focus
67
Russo turns but Alozie reads that well and claims the ball back
70
Intelligent movement by Oshoal frees her on the right of Nigeria’s attack and she wins a corner for Nigeria. A corner into the box is met by Kanu’s header but it goes wide. Still England 0, Nigeria 0, Even Stevens
75 mins
England Corner. Nnadozie is barged off the ball to prevent the corner. A brilliant corner. Daiy gets up and heads down powerfully but the fantastic Nnadozie in goal repels the effort and then completes a double save. England are still dangerous intermittently. England are the European champions of course.
79 mins
Nigeria mounting wave after wave of pressure but no clear opportunity so far. England 0, Nigeria 0. Kanu goes off for Francisco Ordega. Nigerian ladies win a free kick in England’s half and it is headed wide.
84 mins
Alozie takes the ball off Lauren James when then steps on her. She is given a yellow card but she should have been red carded.
86 mins.
VAR steps in. Lauren James is red carded. Petulance evoking memories of David Beckham from a previous world cup. The English media hype up these players so much that they can’t deal with the reality when they come across better players that the English media had portrayed as lesser teams.
mentally
90th minute……Girls can we please get this winning goal now….?
My CRUSH LORRY LAUREN JAMES why?
Why would you step on a player?
Thats not just anti football it’s anti human…
So disappointed at you…
But it’s an opportunity sf!!!
HABA
OH LORD
WHAT HAVE WE DONE TO BE PUNISHED WITH OSHOALA
AH NO EFFECT ON THE GAME AT ALL! CHAII!
Abeg, who is that person wearing no 8 jersey for Nigeria……???
Our attack has lacked bite since she came on.
Oshoala doesnt seem interested in this game at all……!!!
@ The good Dr
I have said all along – She is no longer that baller we had – she is no longer the Oshoala we knew and loved – We still know her and will always love her but she is no longer any use to our football
I don talk am tire, some demons don enter permanent attack mode and attack me and try to defame my name at every turn because I simply state the truth
@Dr Drey
It’s your favourite Oshoala now – You mean you don’t know?
Why did Ordega have to come in for Kanu?
Wrong substitution. Monday would have been better.
Tired legs dude – you saw the shift she done put in!!
Our attack has become blunt with the introduction of Oshoala
True to some extent. How does Oshoala not show that she is a Barca player?
Where is Oparanozie???
Sometimes, it is more difficult playing a 10 man team than it is playing 11 v 11. The super falcons need to veey very careful.
The LORRY LAUREN JAMES was really closed marked in the game am sure sf coach read my comments of me advising the team to reall be WARY of HER…
It will be a painful antithesis if we end up not winning this game…..!!!
Someone needs to smack bigmanism out of Assisat ASAP
Azizat is overrated…
Our numerical advantage has no effect so far… These guys were not properly drilled on how to string passes and play sustained pressing game… I am not impressed!
You just wake up abi??
It appears we dropped our game after the red card. We have the brightest chance of progressing. I hope it is not fluffed.
The coach is mad for bringing in Orgeda for the most inform player Kanu. Bringing in Oparanozie would have been better, now we are not threatening England again despite a woman advantage. But I’m still proud of their performance judging that I didn’t give them a chance as always because of this shabby coaching habits of Waldrum making wrong subs.
ENH!!!!
NO PENALTY KE????
AH JESUS!!!
Mehn we really need to try and take advantage of this situation – for me, this is where Waldrum is facing the latest test – I hope he passes this test! This is a tactical inquisition!
Waldrum’s substitutions will kill us in this match.
What in hell is Alozie doin on the left and Ordega on the right….??
Ajibade should be the one on the left, Alozie on the right and Ordega playing centrally as a Second Striker with the so far ineffective Assisat
Nonsense…..ball wey dey ground you never dey effective, na the one wey dey up naim you wan bicycle kick like your boyfriend Osimhen.
Agba baller isonu.
It would have been better to have Opeyemi Ajakaye on this pitch at this time
Agbaaa osimen hahaha
Osho babe den say u dey sazaloo.like me
Dr. Drey Please…My belleeeeee oooooo is
Why does it seem we are playing for penalties in a game where we clearly have the advantage…..???
Waldrum….we still have Monday and Oparanozie on our bench for graciousness’ sake……!!!!
This man wan use small thing spoil all the good work he has done so far.
Turn by turn oooo
Pls can we sub Oshoala off??
They denied us a “stonewall” penalty!!
God will not allow them to get away with this!!
Even the English commentators are saying it is a penalty!!!
Na wa the GAME come hard pass as e be when e be 11vs11…
Well like @FOOTBALLFANATIC said sometimes its hard to play against 10 men compared to 11vs 11
If we lose this game blame Waldrum for the stupid substitutions and changing players positions….We attacked better even before the red card lol
How wasn’t that a penalty!
we have alot of advantages for this man to utilize it should not be a big deal
How wasn’t that a penalty for Nigeria!
AGBA BALLER needs support upfront she can’t do it on her own…
Come…is Oshoala crazy….???
What is all these useless bicycle kicks she’s attempting….?
Abi which kind agba baller isonu be this…?
At a time when we need inspiration from our highest profiled player, she’s there acting like an ex ballon dor winner….???
Eh….Chineke me…!
Na Waldrum kill us for this game wahlahi
Chim’oma eh…!
Payne off for Oparanozie.
Waldrum……???!!!!
May be Payne isn’t a good penalty taker
Some suspect subs for real – Oshoala should have come off for Oparanoize
OPARANOZIE should have even started this game…
Chai this coach na wa…
I sincerely wish to apologize to Opeyemi Ajakaye for comparing this so-called agba baller to her.
My sincere apologies Opeyemi. You would have been more useful to us coming on as a 60th minute sub in this game
Oshoala is way too overrated…..
Oparanozie has had more impact on this game in 10 minutes than agba-isonu has had in an hour
Penalty oooooh, I am sitting at the edge of my sit, oooh Heart attack ooooh
Oshoala is heavy and getting old
God of soccer pls give us this day. My anadozie I trust and believe you.Go girls.
We should never have brought Oshoala on in this game – we took away our own advantage as soon as we did that –
They were legally reduced to 10 men, but we reduced our own team by ourselves by bringing Oshoala on!!
Rubbish!!
If we dont win this match today, Waldrum and Agba-isonu should be ready to take responsibility……!!!
Really, is this the kind of game where you are supposed to displaying bigmanism….?
Waldrum no go anywhere. Do your worst. Oshoala na bona-fide Agba baller.
The penalty award not accorded Nigeria on the foul on Alozie was criminal.
And the one VAR overruled for England for similar offence….???
No that was never a pen.
We’ve been robbed again!
Hahahahaha…..it indeed was never a penalty, nudging your opponent in the penalty area is not a penalty when its against nigeria, but becomes a penalty when its for Nigeria.
I have nothing to say to you.
Okay, so tell me why even after close scrutiny of the VAR, and with the bias we know very well did they still overturn it then?
Okay so the whole officials and VAR along with it’s officials as well as us (Nigerians) are all wrong abi and only you are right ba?
Okay na lol
Simple question….how is nudging an opponent in our penalty area is not a penalty when its against Nigeria, but becomes a penalty when it is in favour of Nigeria.
Spot where the real bias is and move on.
Lol
I’m not going to even bother with this – Pointless
If you cannot spot a “shove” from a real SHOVE then I leave you to that
Just because they’re all shoves don’t mean they are the same thing – Everything in life has “context” and “Objectivity” attached to i- Life is not just black and white – there are shades of grey in between sir
Apply some common sense and move on
The whole world sees it like I did – go figure
Hahahaha…so we now have 2 types of shoves in football……LMAOoo
A real shove and a fake shove……LMAOoo.
Once again, Spot where the real bias is and move on.
I am not expecting any better reply. Common sense has never been common…..same way simple arithmetics has never been simple……LMAOoo
The ref awarded 6 minutes injury time after the 2nd half today, we didnt here you open your rotten teeth about racism because Nigeria was having the advantage. We didnt here you vommitting your usually sewage of emancipating the black race when you cant even solve simple mathematics yet…..LMAOoo
And he talks about context and Objectivity…..LMAooo. I guess the context of Ajibade using her Elbow to shove Daly in our box was different from Bronze’s own on Alozie…….LMAooo.
Ajibade’ shove must have spoken Swahili while Bronze’s own spoke Latin.
You are a BIG FOOL! smh
Common sense is not at all common and you are case in point – I jave rotten teeth? lol
So that is your best ba? Like a primary school girl lol
Okay – So I am awaiting my apologies from many of you (you know yourselves) – About the Oshoala, Plumptre and Onumonu and Kanu issues Issues
Our girls are useless at pens but I for one am already satisfied that we made it this far!!
Forza SF’s!
Forza Nigeria!!
Ire O!
Are these the penalties we played cautiously for 120 minutes for….???
My broda – I wonder O!!1
WELL THAT IS IT FOR NOW!!
AS THE COMMENTATORS SAID – IT’S DAYLIGHT ROBBERY!!
IRE O NIGERIA!!
Penalty is anybody’s game. We lost gallantly well done ladies. You have made Nigeria proud
Waldrum is technically and tactically deficient – This is why we lost.
Also some of our girls lack football intelligence aka “Common Sense”
Too harsh on Waldrum. Remember NFF didnt let his more trusted female assistant be by his side. But Dr. Terry Eguaoje more than deputized for her and the number of clean sheets told. We have the talent really. Shame on NFF but I am happy sabotage backfired
Waldrum practically murdered this game with his own hands.
He picked up a sledged hammer and practically smashed this victory into pieces for us.
And as for that agba-isonu….the less said of her the better…..!!!
A beg leave Agba Baller alone. Did you not see the bicycle kicks she attempted?
Disappointing ending but good effort from the girls overall. Just lacked that quality at the right end to make the difference.
When I saw Alozie playing penalty, I knew she won’t score. A good player but she is not patient with the ball and think sometimes. I knew she would blast it.
Super falcons, you lost gallantly. Waldrum, you’ve tried. It’s time to leave falcons. I still feel we didn’t play to the strength of our attack.
Wow, now I go to sleep for about two hours DV. What a game. Nigeria tried. Somebody had to win the game. So sad we lost the way we did. Looking back, some of the substitutions didn’t move Nigeria forward. Hopefully, a new crop of players will be chosen to replace some of our older women. Well done Super Falcons. Goodnight and good morning brethren. Nigeria go survive.
Chai Waldrum exposed his tactical naivety on this one…..We saw it took the English coach a red card to make a change….This man made rash decisions….Took out Ayinde, Uche, and Payne…..Like wtf and why did Alozie use her weaknfoot for the penalty????
I never saw our girls quality better than a second round… There wasn’t anything spectacular about this team. The solution is real grassroot work. I was more impressed with the English girls…
We could only really defend but there wasn’t any potency for us upfront. The game and penalty kicks showed they also did not prepare for kicks. We got the advantage at the start of the kicks and still messed it up.
When you state facts there will be those here quick to insult. Playing 11 vs 10 for most part of the game especially extra time and still couldn’t do shit. I am often not too interested in watching Nigeria Super Falcons game. I never seen a more ineffective Oshoala before now, then there is the one from my state Ordega who is makeup champion raising leg like a toad.
I often see more solid football from the Junior girls at the U-17 and U-20 levels. What a shame…
@jimmyBall
You nailed it.
Blame nobody but the coach for his selections. God gave us a golden opportunity but coach Waldrum wasted it.
Ordega should have made this team while Oshoala not reliable. I’m not impressed. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
England v Nigeria. FIFA women’s World Cup. Round of 32. 07/08/23 Live Commentaries by Yinka Adeyemi
On paper, the lionesses of England are the favourites following their perfect 9 points out of 9 in the group stages but the Super Falcons of Nigeria are quietly confident as they should be. They hammered the host Australia 3 – 2 ( the Aussies got their second goal after 8 minutes of injury time). They qualified from the group of death containing Canada, the Olympics Champions and rankled higher than England and in they actually have a better record than the Lionesses in the head to head between both teams. England won £-2 in 1995 but the Super Falcons defeated their English adversaries 1-0 and 3-0 in 2002 (July. 23) and 2004 (April 222) respectively.
Lauren James has been outstanding for the English ladies here and has been their standout player for the reigning European Champions with goals and assists from the left flank but in Oshoala, Nigeria, the 9 times African Champions possess a superb superstar who can be a match winner in any tournament at the highest level. Assist Oshoala, a ballon d’or nominee is the best player in the best female team in the world. She frightened the living daylights out of the Aussies when she came on for the second half panicking them into forced errors and coring a sublime goal from an acute angle after her presence and clever runs left the Aussie ladies in sixes and sevens. The Barcelona ace is absolutely world class. She came off the bench with devastating effect against the Aussies last week and it looks like she would be starting from the bench also today. Also, Toni Payne with her quick feet and killer passes as well as Rashedat Ajibade with her trickery and energy could make it really interesting for Nigeria. Game on so “let’s got there” as they might say on the streets of Lagos.
Kick-off 8.30 UK and Nigerian time.
1 minute
English wins a free kick in a dangerous position. Nigeria clears and Nigeria wins a throwing and another one.
4 mins
England wins a corner. Good start by England. They are mounting pressure on the Nigerian defence. Nnadoxie in goal deals with it and flicks the floated corner away from danger.
6 mins
A long pass finds Lauren Hemp deep in the Nigerian area but no nonsense Ohoale takes control and deals with it.
6 mins.
Ajibade combines beautifully on the left with Ucheibe and they are starting to make an impact.
9 mins
Ajibade again creates some magic down the left, forces the Earps into conceding a corner but it comes to nothing.
12
Ajibade seeks out Kanu with a searching pass and Kanu wins a corner. A goal bound corner is blocked. The Super Falcons now on top.
16
Nigeria should be ahead but they are not. Plumpte hits the upright. A Nigerian strikers hits the crossbar but some home England survive. England 0, ?Nigeria 0.
23
Dimehin misses her clearance..A good chance for Russo but her Nnadozie gets down smartly to her left to save the good effort.
60 mins
Oshoala is on for Nigeria. The Five times African footballer of the year would be looking to cause some damage here. Throwing to the Super Falcons
65 mins
Carter and Stanway create some anxious moments in the Nigeria box and win a corner which sails over the bar for a goal kick to the Super Falcons.
67 mins
Dimehin sends hemp for ice cream (Jay jay Okocha’s style) and the fans erupt with applause but her pass goes wide.
The English media hype up these players so much that they can’t deal with the reality when they come across better players that the English media had portrayed as lesser teams.
mentally
90 mins (6 mins injury time)
A good passage of play from England. They pass it around well but the Super falcons stand their ground,.
90 + 5 minutes
Chloe Kelly losses out on the left of England’s attack. Full time whistle goes.
Englandd 0, Nigeria 0. Extra time beckons.
————————————————
Extra time
91 mins
Ayinde goes off for Echiejini
92 mins.
Alozie shoved off the ball in the box but the referee does not give a penalty and refuses to check the VAR despite promptings from the Nigerian players. England living on a knife edge
94 mins.
Ajibade with some more
Feigns on the right creates space and crosses but it is too high for Oshoala to head it.
96 mins
England win a throwing on the left flank of the attack but Nigeria stand firm.
97 mins
Ajibade brings the ball down beautifully in England’s box, finds Alozie but she looses her footing and the attempt goes wide.
102 mins
Oshoala outwits and outruns Alex Green on the right of the Nigerian attack but her cross hits the cross bar and ruled out for a goal kick.
105 mins
First half of Injury time ends. Still goalless.
The BBC1 pundits in the studio unanimously agree that Nigeria should have been awarded a penalty. The referee gave all fifty/fifty decisions (and even some 30/70 ones) to England during the game and was quick to award them a dodgy penalty in the first half that had to be overruled by VAR. I don’t have much faith in her.
109 mins
Ohoale sends in a dangerous ball but Ordega cannot quite make it her own in the box.
110
Ajibade nutmegs Millie Bright. (By the way in Nigerian street football lingo that’s called a “window” or sometimes rudely, “pata”) The crowd cheers but the match is still goalless.
113
Oparonozie is on for Tony Payne.
Ajibade Daly go down after a clash off heads and the game is held up for a few minutes.
116 mins
A change for Oshoala in the box. She hits it but not powerfully enough and Earps saves the direct shot.
118 mins
England send a. Free kick into the box. They cause some worry for Nigerian fans but it comes to nothing.
119 mins
Ajibade was too good for Daly, knocks the ball past her and outruns her to the ball going round the house. Her cross causes some panic but Nigeria can’t profit from it.
Penalties
Its squeaky bum time.
England will go first
Nnadozie save a pen against Australia in the second match her but the England goal keeper, Earps is also very good and probably their best player.
Stanway readies herself. Nnadozie stands tall, wins the psychological ball and Stanway blasts it wide.
England o, Nigeria has a chance
Oparanozie also misses. Earps psyched her out as well. Honours even.
England steps up and scores for England.
Michell Alozie steps up and blasts it over the bar. She fails to hit the target. England now on top.
Daly scores and England are 2 goals ahead.
Ajibade scores.
England 2 Nigeria 1
England leads 3-1.
Ucheibe
Cool as you like. Leakes the keeper rooted to the spot.
England 3 Nigeria 2
Chloe Kelly scores and England go through.
Bothe teams gave their all. England always gig deep against African opposition. Even the BBC commentator said it was day light robbery. Nigeria were robbed of a penalty by the based referee in the second half. They were never going to get any favours from the officials here. The referee favoured England with call after call and the Lionesses held firm under severe pressure when they went down to 10 players.
They found a way and they are through to the quarter finals. Nigeria is out. Heartbreak for Nigeria
Although she had a great game, Alozie singlehandedly cost us this game when she failed to bury a begging chance during open play. Talking of penalties, Oparanozie let us down because if that first kick had been scored, England would have been under immense pressure.
The moment Uche was out and I saw Ordega I knew our attack had been weakened..Uche troubled the English with her strength and pace but you bring Ordega who has turned calamity… Waldrum you can now leave us your Resume has been enhanced now….You are absolutely responsible for this mishap…..Kudos to the girls.
it seems painful but the better side won. super falcons did the country proud but the team needs to improve their inter play. ifeoma onunumu and oshoala asisat didn come to the competition with their scoring boots so the team need to scout for more attacking options. oparanozie cant be blamed for her penalty miss since she has handly touched a ball all competition and the beautiful michelle alozie has played her heart out in this competition so im gonna cut her some slack. the coach should be on his way out. and like someone said, grassroot improvement should be the next approach and improving the female league back home. our U-20 should be given every encouragement, there are alot of quality players there that can bench some players in the falcons team. so the competition comes to an end for the falcons, but im guessing their display will help improve their rating
We had 35 minutes to beat a 10 man team we had run riot on when they had 11. Seems like the red card actually exposed Waldrum…
Well the hamsters or whatever the hell those things are had predicted England lol.
He has phobia for red card lol. He prefers to manage a game in the face of red card. Think Morocco vs Nigeria at Wafcon hehehe
Hmmm… when 4 bush rats enter England’s bucket, we supposed to know that they will score 4 out of 5 kicks but the remaining 3 or 3 wandering round our bucket caused us to hit poll 3 times.
The girls tried. I tot by the end of the first half, we will be 2-0 down but like Waldrum said, players born overseas have been calling him for a place in the team. It’s good to change tired legs. The likes of Oshoala, Ordega, Onome Ebi have all tied. We can see what Ucheibe is doing after she dropped Rita Chikwelu out of the team. We should let that building stop.
My Focus Now on Jamaica.
Yes, that was a clear penalty but the ref refused to consult VAR. What a shame. I felt Waldrum took out some bite in the attack when she substituted Kanu for Ordega. And Alozie had a golden opportunity to win it. If only she had looked up. But. to be honest, I’ve never seen the level of quality from the SF before.
Your last sentence is the burner for me. When we struck the post twice, I knew it might be over but this is the best falcons display in a long time. Our US born players really elevated the standard of this team. If NFF finally have their chance to sack “loud mouth” Waldrum which is counter productive by a mile due to the upcoming WAFCON qualifiers and who has elicited more lookin from foreign born stars, this team does not need a local coach. We have a fearsome squad building. Before now Oshoala was undroppable. A local coach will ruin the progress of this team
It turned beans lol
Nothing to write. Just making this the 200th comment. Lol
