Blessing Eleke is elated to have scored his 17th league goal of the season for FC Luzern who thumped Stephen Odey’s FC Zurich 3-0 in a Swiss Super League clash on Wednesday reports Completesports.com.
The 23-year-old, Eleke doubled his side’s lead in the 30th minutes after Ruben Vargas had shot the host into the lead in the eighth minutes. Vargas sealed the win completing his brace nine minutes before the hour mark.
Eleke’s goal was his 17th in 38 games this season for FC Luzern with the Nigerian reserving accolades for his teammates.
“I thank you Almighty God for yesterday’s great winning and for my goal and well done my teammates for the good fight and for the great fans of @fcluzern_fanpage @fcluzern_offiziell we do it for you guys 💪❤️💪 God is the greatest# I love this game,” Eleke wrote on his Instagram Page.
The win also boosted FC Luzern’s chances of clinching a spot for next season’s UEFA Europa League qualifying spot.
FC Luzern are currently third with 46 points with 45 games one point ahead of FC Lugano and FC St Gallen in fourth and fifth place respectively
Eleke also gave nothing away regarding his future, but he is happier at FC Luzern.
“Don’t ask me about my future,” Eleke told Completesports.com who is reportedly wanted by a top Bundesliga team.
“I had a difficult time due to suspension but I’m happy getting the goals for my team.”
FC Luzern will face reigning league champions Young Boys in their final game of the season on Saturday.
Commenting on the chances of the Super Eagles chance at the forthcoming 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations tournament billed to kick off in Egypt next month, the striker expressed confidence that the team will excel.
“We have a good chance and I believe the team will do well.”
Nigeria will face Burundi, Madagascar, and Guinea in group B of the tournament.
