Super Eagles head coach Austine Eguavoen has vowed to give fringe players in the team opportunity to play in next Wednesday’s dead rubber clash against Guinea-Bissau, reports Completesports.com.
The West Africans progressed to the Round of 16 after a 3-1 win against Sudan on Saturday night.
The Super Eagles top Group D with six points from two games, while Egypt occupy second spot with three points.
Sudan and Guinea-Bissau and have one point each.

With leadership of the group still up for grabs, Eguavoen hinted that he will ring the changes against the Djurtus.
“Obviously, we will make changes for the last group game against Guinea-Bissau,” Eguavoen told a press conference after the game against Sudan.
“We have depth in the team and it’s a good opportunity for the other players to play.
”We will play to win the game and I trust the players to do a great job.”

I wish our players an injury-free encounter with the Guinea-Bissau players. What I saw against Egypt today was horrible. It was a very rough game.
Okoye should stand between the sticks to hone his skills for the crucial knock-out encounters.
I concur
Spot on … He is still shaky
Uzoho,Collins, ebuehi and iwobi must start pls
Very interesting proposition. We are pn the sane page.Jamillu Collins , Ebuehi, Uzoho are good contestants with other players in their respective positions. But I think Okoye should still be between the sticks to hone his skills
That is good coming from Eguavoen. Let us see how the fringe players would fare.
With his tactics and techniques as can be seen from his productive substitutions, coach Eguavoen has shown intent to lead the Eagles to the World cup. But what I don’t know is the position of the NFF who some people believe don’t trust indigenous coaches. Whoever he is gonna play against Guinea Bissau should deliver because of his rich bench.
I will encourage him to stake it since that would be a bold statement and historical. Eguavoen has it all to write his name on the sand of times. Let’s have them.
When some people were shouting here about the importance of experience in a team, some of us thought they were disciples of Mummy GO and paid deaf ears to their concerns which some saw as message of doom. But surprise surprise, in less than two months after they raised their concerns, we all have seen it very clearly, that experience can actually make the difference. All the chances Awoniyi is missing like father christmas, Ighalo, Musa, Iwobi etc would have scored some of them. Definitely. Even the goal he managed to score, he didn’t even know he has scored, because the ball hit him on the face/eyes, blinding him temporary before hitting the back of the net. It was when he heard shouting “goal” that he knew he has scored. Bottom line, Awoniyi is doing very well especially with his linkup play, holdup play, hustling and bustling. He doesn’t give defenders any breathing space. He hustles and hassles them relentlessly, just like Osimhen. But what he has to learn is to first relax before taking action, whenever he gets a good chance in a promising position. He shouldn’t always strike immediately he gets a chance, sometimes, he should cut back, and the defenders and even the goalkeeper will slide and dive thinking he has taken the shot. He will now have the chance, to choose any spot of his choice and calmly slot the ball into the net. To be candid, he has gotten a bucket full of chances since our first match, but has been doing the same thing again and again with the same result.
For Sadiq, he has not been convincing so far. He looks clumsy when on the ball and seems to lack ideas on what best to do when in possession. However, there are few indications that he could hold up play and do better than we had seen so far. But there is no guarantee about these little flashes of brilliance from him, until he is given more time.
Having secured qualification, I expect Equaveon to play a brand new 11 in our next match, may be, he could leave the goalkeeper to continue, because as far as I am concerned, I don’t have full trust in him. So he needs more games to build his confidence and also ours (the fans) too. Eguaveon should also play Iwobi, but as number 10 instead of 7. Also, he should play Musa either in the wings or as a striker, let’s see if he is still relevant to the team or now a liability
I hope you know Awoniyi is behind Haaland in Bundesliga scoring chat?
Pls, kindly remind them o.. He’s getting into the team well enough..he’s there pls..
That dude is a good striker..
A times club form does not translate to national team success/form
We know but a times club form does not neccesarily translate to national team form/success,check out @ so many players in Europe who have not done so well for their countries
Well said brother.
Eguavoen To Ring Changes Vs Guinea-Bissau.. This is more of it and a way to add color to the Afcon.
Please let me see onyekuru, ejuke, ebuehi, ndah, Collins get game time in that match and Sadiq should start let’s access him well why olayinka come up second half. Maduka should continue in goal his confidence is not there yet maybe because he is on holiday on the pit h thanks to SEsolid defense so far.
Kudos to nice football
But keeping this balls in the back of the net is our major challenge so many chances been wasted might hunt us later in this tournament lets get them in as they come.
Soar high EAGLES
Eguadiola is doing well so far do not relent untill you surpass rorhs record in AFCON that’s when you become a main stay in the heart of the fans but your beautiful football is something laudable continues this good work and improve on it… It can only get better no time to relent keep improving world cup qualifiers and world cup is around the corner

They need to be careful not to allow another Madagascar debacle, it was same way at the last AFCON in egypt, won two games, qualified for the next round only to loose the last game to a desperate team.
This is true.we must be first in that group to avoid the ‘tougher’route through the knockout stages.we must win our last match.Everybody must not play.Remember Madagascar!
Leadership of the group is not up for grabs, top spot is guaranteed because head to head is used as tie breaker and not goal difference
