Former Nigeria internationals Augustine Eguavoen and Sunday Oliseh have congratulated Senegal on the country’s success at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The Terangha Lions claimed their first AFCON title after a pulsating 4-2 penalty shoot out win against the Pharaohs of Egypt.
The two teams battled to a 0-0 draw after 120 minutes of entertaining contest.

Eguavoen, who managed the Super Eagles at the competition took to the social media to celebrate Aliou Cisse’s side.
”Congratulations, @FootballSenegal,” he tweeted.
Oliseh also a former Super Eagles coach hailed the Senegalese for their success in the competition.
“Sadio Mané leads “superb” Senegal to win arguably, the most qualitative AFCON in the past 20 years in terms of Tactics, passion, and surprises.
African football has come of age !! I am excited…”

You guys can also make it happen here.you played this game in the same era with cisse.stand up and be counted
Imagine if we have Austin and Olise coaching the Super Eagles, who is Senegal, who is Egypt??? Congratulations to Senegalese team.
And which one of them won AFCON when they coached the SE…?
Who is Egypt, who is Senegal…..Egypt are 7 time AFCON champions and have been to in the final 2 times in the last 3 editions. Senegal are the current African champions and have been the the final 2 times in the last 2 editions
Who is Egypt, who is Senegal…..This is part of the Arrogance we are talking about.
With Eguavoen with only 2 weeks of preparations silenced Egypt or didn’t you see the game? So, who is Egypt??? Senegal on its own had mother luck. I’m I not right to ask who is Senegal with Coach Eguavoen and Sunday Oliseh as assistant?
Had it been I didn’t watch the Match my brother. You are right, even their talisman was turned to ball boy on the pitch. Our Super Eagles is wonderful and Salah will continue to fear us.
And after silencing Egypt what next…? He reached the final right…..LMAOOoooo. Please show me the medal he received for silencing egypt and I will show you the medal egypt received for reaching the finals despite taking a far more dangerous route…..LMAOOoo.
In 2006 when he had the likes of Enyeama, Jayjay, Mikel, Kanu, Obagoal, Odenwigie and all our greats was it not same Egypt that lifted the trophy…??
Or was it not Egypt Oliseh saw in the horizon in 2015 and ran away…??
Who is Egypt, who is Senegal…? They are the names of textile materials….LMAOooo.
LMAO Fake Dr And Argument.
double standard @Dr Drey so you call Osaze a Great name the biggest club he played for. in the same breath you call boys playing for similar clubs i mentioned below mediocre only to back your flimsy excuse of an argument that your God Musa is not surplus to requirement on a club level about even Iheanacho is playing at a higher level than Odemwinge, you see bro that is the problem with Nigerians living in the past is a very dangerous thing. Osaze is of no higher level than Dennis, ademola Lookman Michael Olise, Alex Iwobi and co infact Osimhen is of a greater caliber than all the players you mentioned above. you are just pissed that Rohr left and you want us to die with Musa hence we say you want nothing good for SE. So my friend crwal back in your layer.
Look at your newsance of a comment @Dr Drey
“We have the Best players in Africa (with 1 Napoli and 2 Leicester city players)……LMAOooo…ANY coach can with AFCON with the calibre of players we have in 2 weeks……LMAOOOoo. I still dey laugh oo”
Dr drey trash talker always contradicting himself….
I hope now you see the importance of having players in top leagues as u clearly Marked them down as greats frpm the past. This is why we can’t have bench warmers captaining ourside as that is not the tradition of SE but Buhari and the Northers form of oppression
Mind you with the *infact Osimhen is of a greater caliber than all the players you mentioned above.*
with the exception of Jay Jay Okocha
again @Dr Drey… NFF and Pinnick coupled with the dizzy Rohr hampered Eguavoen from the start by 1 Excluding Dennis from the list and the switch of Ademola lookman not being made prority. also the Injuries to Balogun, Osimhen , Peter Etebo did not help matters. Eguavoen mistake can be down to 2 key mistakes in personnel 1. Clavin Bassey and Cyril Dessers and not being proactive in following up on guys like Michael Olise again all these boys are either on the level or can reach the heights of any player you mentioned above if not being hampered as the NFF are currently doing with the abomination of interference and pure stupidity when it comes to the petting of Musa and Ighalo.
Go ahead and Count the number of Arsenal ,missing from Nigeria SE at the recently concluded AFCON, I am sure you will find it is more than 3 as you try to mislead people into thinking.
Let me felicitate with Cisse and his lads, congrats.
It was a local coach that won the last afcon19 and now another one defeated a consortium of foreign coaches. This is message to African FAs to continue to look inwards.
Again!! Issue is not the coaching Issue is getting the right personnel to execute the coaches Orders I very much doubt the squad we had at this concluded AFCON can Achieve anything in March we need to Install some Killer instinct players into JAN. Personally NFF is the are threatening Dennis with not playing for SE again is doing us no favours we need a lethal bench as well as starters thank god Osimhen is gradually coming back to form. But we can’t solely expect all our goals to come from him. Neither is Moses Simon the right stature to be the face of SE. We need killer instinct from crosses (Victor Moses) and Free kicks i.e. a player in the mould of Michael Olise and also deadly players coming of the bench like a Ademola Lookman so as to completely suffocate our opponents Nigeria’s problem i find no adays is when a starter is subbed in a tight game the game is as good as lost.
Look at Cisse he selects Senegal’s best and only the best!. Mind you Dieng who came on last night for Senegal only applied to Fifa for a Switch a month before this AFCON and it was done and dusted, so all those listening to the stories about Lookman switch from Pinnick are kidding themselves.

Personally NFF is to blame and playing a dangerous game with threatening Dennis with not playing for SE again as it is doing us no favours. Infact is has a tinge of maliciousness as well as stupidity on the part of NFF.
we need a lethal bench as well as starters thank god Osimhen is gradually coming back to form. However, we can’t solely expect all our goals to come from Osimhen. Neither is Moses Simon the right stature to be the face of SE as some SE fans are laughably suggesting I think that right is reserved for Osibobo (VO9).

Where did you get your news that “….. Dieng who came on last night for Senegal only applied to Fifa for a Switch a month before this AFCON and it was done and dusted….” LMAOOooooo
Born in Pikine, Senegal, Bamba Dieng is a Senegalese professional footballer who plays as a forward for Ligue 1 club Marseille and the Senegal national team
Dieng began his career with Diambars in the Senegal Premier League, and had 12 goals in his first 14 games in his debut season. He finished as the top scorer of the Senegal Premier League for the 2019–20 season.
Dieng signed for Marseille on 5 October 2020.[3] He made his debut the club in a 2–0 Coupe de France win over Auxerre on 10 February 2021, scoring a goal in the 92nd minute of the game.[4]
Dieng debuted with the Senegal national team in a 4–1 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification win over Namibia on 9 October 2021.[5]
He was called up to the Senegal squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in January 2022, scoring his first goal for the side in a 2–0 round of 16 victory over Cape Verde.[6] In the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Final, Dieng scored in the penalty shootout to help Senegal become the champions of the tournament.[7]

How does someone who was born and raised in Senegal, played for the Senegalese U17s in 2016 and has not lived in France for more than 3 years nor played for any French national team before, apply for a fifa switch….?
Una dey give person Bonus talk. Let us try to make research before posting here for educational benefits, and avoid spreading false information.
Game!
Hehehehehe….After being busted on your Dieng fables, you have hurriedly switched to another of the many foreign borns in the Senegalese team to push home your noise of what we already know and have already serially berated Pinnick and the NFF for on Ade Lookman.
Stop deceiving people.
Pape Gueye did not represent any of the French youth teams in competitive games/competitions and hence (like Micheal Olise) did not and will not need Fifa clearance to switch. He was simply called up after another stellar season at Olympique Marseille and he accepted the call-up
And that isnt anywhere on wikipedia……LMAOOOOoo.
Go and read FIFA statutes Part III Art. 5-8 on player eligibility before coming here to make claims you know no jack about.
Listen to the advise of your twin bigot up there.
Hahahah Lol Alaye na scammer you be. See how u have embarrassed urself he played 4 and 6 competitive games respectively for under 18 and under 19 France.. since you like Wikipedia. Wikipedia only records competitive games. Lmafo!!!

Why not show us where you got your information that he applied for FIFA clearance shortly before a match and it was done immediately AFCON….LMAOOooo.

Congrats to Senegal once again, They are indeed worthy and deserving champions of Africa. This year’s AFCON was theirs for the taking and they did show they were indeed ripe and mature enough for it. And what a way to clinch your 1st ever AFCON trophy….Not one that was stumbled upon, but one that was painstakingly and meticulously planned for, starting with setting up one of the most advanced youth/grassroots football talent development in Africa (Aspire Academy and many others) and mixing it with getting their diaspora who themselves are products of an elite youth/grassroots development structure in Europe.
It was indeed justice to patience and handwork that lions of Teranga are indeed delivering the trophy by this morning to the president of their FA for onward delivery to the president of the nation. He whom the cap fits, let him wear it. And hey, does this cap not fit Senegal so perfectly….?
They have given many a loquacious countries like Nigeria lessons on humility, focus and best of all, efficiency.
Despite having the BEST, yes I repeat, THE BEST talents in Africa, whether in quantity or in quality, they have never for once made noise about it. Their players are not hyped as “senior men”, “Mane-goal”, “Gana-the-king” etc.
When they needed to hire an exinternational as coach, they just didnt hire an incompetent retiree who had not done anything in football coaching 6 years after retirement on the back of “he played at the highest level in Europe for close to a decade under great coaches and at the world cup and had 100 caps”……..RUBBISH….!
They went for one who was already a certified assistant coach of a French lower division club for 2 years, attached him first to their U23s as an assistant coach, moved him up as assistant national team coach for 3yrs before handing the reigns to him as the manager….that’s about 5 years of coaching experience both in the classroom and on the pitch.
They recognized that crashing out of the Qfinals in 2017 with him was a step forward from their group stage ouster in 2015 and non-qualification all together in 2013.
They appreciated his qualification for the worldcup despite not making it out of the group stage in a group containing Poland and Japan. Nobody labelled him a failure for not reaching the heights of “2002 squad”. They supported him with the “foreign” technical assistant (that white man y’all see beside him on the bench) that will make the team stronger from the bench.
He was still allowed to lead his team to the 2019 AFCON in his 2nd attempt in the fifth year in the saddle, despite losing to Algeria twice in the same competition, 2-0 in the the group stages and narrowly in the final, he wasn’t labeled “belmadi’s boy” neither was he derided for bringing home the silver medal they had already won before.
Nobody derided him for not playing entertaining football.
Nobody forced him to play the “2002 style”
Nobody cried for any outdated identity that translates to nothing.
Despite having the largest pool of the BEST players any African nation can amass all the years, nobody tagged his reign as a waste.
Nobody demanded him to replicate Elhadj Diouf, Henri Camara, Bouba Diop, or Khalilou Fadiga in his team before his work will be appreciated.
Nobody dismissed Senegal’s run from 80 somethingth on the FIFA rankings after missing out on qualification for the 2013 AFCON to 20th in 2021 as nothing just because “he has nothing to show for 6 years on the job”
Despite oscillating between 20th and 25th on the fifa ladder since 2018, nobody concocted lies of “the team has stagnated” in other to get him fired.
He has used at least 52 dual nationality players in his 7 year reign as Senegal’s coach, nobody has reigned insults on him for doing so, Nobody has derided him for not inviting home-based players to come and “gain confidence” with the senior national team or foisted home-based quotas on him or undermined him for being “too dependent” on foreign-based and foreign-born players. As a matter of fact, apart from goalkeepers, close to 95% of home-grown debutants under his reign debuted as foreign-based players.
Nobody lied to the senagalese FA that “with the calibre of players senegal has, ANY coach will win the AFCON with those boys in 2 weeks”…..LMAOooooo (I still dey laugh – apologies to Baba OBJ – this is probably the biggest scam in Nigeria since independence after Buari….LMAOoo…win AFCON in 2 weeks….LMAOoooo. I still dey laugh)
In the 7th year of his reign, on his 3rd attempt at AFCON, he was methodical and efficient. Starting low key on a low gear, doing the needful to reach the knock-outs where the real afcon starts (having learnt both as a coach and as a team from previous afcon experiences), and then changing gears and ramping up performance after performance like a turbocharged super-doped engine all the way to the trophy. No cosmetics, no entertainment, no showboating. Just get the job done and move on result-oriented football.
Now who remembers that Senegal needed a 97th minute penalty to defeat ZIMBABWE….???
Who recalls that Senegal with all their stars couldn’t score against Guinea and tiny Malawi (with Malawi and south Africa based players), talk more of earning wins…?
Who recalls that Senegal only won 1 match and scored 1 goal in the group stages of the 2021 AFCON…?
Who remembers that Senegal had no player in the group stage team of the tournament or that Aliou Cisse was not the group stage coach of the tournament…? LMAOOooooo.
But guess what, Senegal produced the MVP, the GK and the coach of the tournament and also have as many a 5 players in the team of the tournament is my calculations are right.
Senegal won the games that matter, and are deserved and long awaited KINGS of Africa
For those who make the fallacious claims that defies common sense and every logic of probabilities and permutation in mathematics and statistics, that its easier to win a 24 team afcon than an 8-team AFCON, please go and ask Senegal how easy it was to defeat the Malawis, Zimbabwes and Cape verdes of this world…..LMAOOoo. Go and ask them is a team can win only 1 match and still play in the final…..LMAOOoooo
Humility, Efficiency and Patience has won once again……Not arrogance.
We have the Best players in Africa (with 1 Napoli and 2 Leicester city players)……LMAOooo…ANY coach can with AFCON with the calibre of players we have in 2 weeks……LMAOOOoo. I still dey laugh oo
We will learn….!!!
You made one good point. Let’s just hope NFF finally settle for Eguavoen and Sunday Oliseh.
I don’t think there’s any need to change the current managers, they are cool. And moreso, Oliseh might not accept an assistant position having been a substantive coach to the SE.
Dr Dre has hit the nail on the head. Senegal’s success wasn’t gotten overnight. People all failed to see where rohr picked us from and the upward trajectory he was achieving. I doubt if Senegal’s coach is been owed months of unpaid salaries. I doubt if the Senegalese FA would deliberately take matches to venue that doesn’t sit well with the coach and the team. I doubt if their FA would force untested assistants on the coach.
People like odegbami, jimmyball, omo9ja should bury their head in shame. Egypt didn’t play spectacular but they’ve made progress from finishing in the round of 16 in the last AFCON to getting the silver medal. Cameroon finished in the round of 16 in the last edition and came 3rd in this edition. They celebrated because they saw progress made. Rohr took us to 3rd after missing 2 consecutive editions and simpletons like odegbami asked for his head owing to the fact that he wouldn’t bulge at their stupid demands
Rohr was sacked and ‘our own’ was appointed but could only make it to the round of 16. Instead of him being criticized, he gets praised. Blames are shifted to the goalkeeper, some to the referee while others said the timing given to our own was too short. Let’s not forget that ‘our own’has been the technical director of this team for over a year so he knows them. Let’s not forget that ‘our own’ planned to bring in 7 local based players, probably at the expense of other players. Our own deemed it fit to invite a nassarawa united player instead of dessers if he had the chance and no one could read in between the lines
Rohr had targets given to him and he met ALL and was sacked. Our own achieved nothing but is being pampered and we sit and do nothing. Those who clamoured for Nwakali, umar, awoniyi, Ndah, olayinka have all gone mute
Let it be known that Ghana would appoint a coach soon and it would be a shame if the ‘JJC’ coach should pip us to the world cup ticket.
Don’t worry, it’s looking like Sunday Oliseh will be joining Austin Eguavoen. That would impact positively.
I just wish this can teach the Nigerian football community a lesson. But as proud and boastful people, we won’t learn!!! Ego and big manism is our problem.
If Olise is available, NFF should invite him to join Eguavoen as SE assistant coach. I listened to him on SuperSports recently and he did spoke well. Congrats Cisse.
There is a lesson to be learnt here and I hope the people at the glass house would take note. Senegal paraded the most balanced team at the tourney.
From the goal keeping dept to the midfield and then to the strikers, they had by far the most balanced team. Are they the best team? in my estimate, I do not believe they are. Nigeria had the best outfield players but the goal keeping department was suspect and accounted for the premature exit of the SE.
We need to move forward and forget the past but we need to move forward with purpose and with unparalleled determination to put things right.
The unfortunate and very frustrating thing is despite our unceremonious and embarrassing exit, the people at the helms might not learn from their mistakes. They would continue to celebrate mediocrity all in the name of experience and the club a player plays for.
One of keshi’s success was that he was willing to try new players, age or the club a player plays for should not be a deterrent. If a player has the ability and the COFIDENCE to play, play him. if a player is good but playing for a club in an obscure league, i say play him.
Another pitfall to avoid is this insatiable desire to create a quota for local players in the SE. Eguavoen inherited a strong team because Rohr focused on players outside the NPFL. One positive thing that Rohr did (And i later became one of his critics) is that he targeted youth. We all saw the 18 years old Silas Nwankwo Eguavoen was contemplating bringing into the squad. Have we looked at John Noble also? This guys are old and Rohr was justified to look elsewhere. if a player is good but plays in the NPFL and he is better than his European based counterpart then he should get the nod. Until we stop all these politicking and sentiments, it will be “Aluta Continua” ; which translates to ” The struggle continues”.
I still maintain my grounds that rohr was forced to include noble in his last match. Rohr wasn’t one who ever considered our local players because of the state of our league. To suddenly invite an inactive goalkeeper should raise enough dust
In all of this mess, Amaju and the sports minister walk away freely. We aren’t ready to face our problem head on
Keshi has done it, it nothing new, the federation castigated the late Skippo, also made life unbearable for Oliseh. The federation also Ade the cause of Rohr hulabaloo despite he still qualified the team. So they are the problem. Right now a serious federation don’t have a national team coach weeks to the World Cup qualifier, ? They are a joke. I still see Nigeria not qualifying for this World Cup, cos it’s their ambition. Bad people.
Why Nigeria failed in afcon and will continue to fail going forward
Diverse team and or team that reflects the demographics of the country: Senegal for example, the Wolof tribe makes up majority of Senegal and that reflects the team. Ismailia Sarr, Bouna Sarr, Idrissa Gana Gueye, Pape Gueye and more. And you have other minorities playing on the team. Mandinka tribe: Sadio Mane, Kheikhou Kouyate, Pape Abou Cisse and Aliou Cisse the coach. Fulani: Abdou Diallo, Habib Diallo and Boulaye Dia. The Nigerian team is mostly comprised of Igbo people at least 50% and they aren’t even in the top 5 most populated tribe in Nigeria when there are at least 250 tribes in Nigeria. People here are always complaining about the midfield and play dumb and know who the culprit is. The midfield is to busy dribbling the ball with no end product. I know Pinnick has his hand in recruiting, the coach that comes through has to do what he wants. So its a never ending cycle, I don’t know how long he has been there and has not brought anything good. The recruitment is hypercritical I see subpar Igbo players get recruited easily while non Igbo players have to be like Messi or Ronaldo to even get a mention
Huge egos: Nigerians are as big headed as this music industry. I remember clear as day when in the world cup they had to face Croatia, they were dancing with their phone in hands with headphones in their ears before the match started. Have some sense like Senegal they start celebrating and dancing after they win games. The players are not serious. All these crap interviews talking about I get inspiration from listening to wizkid, fela and etc, like that’s supposed to mean something. The most populated country in Africa and still cant get right, that’s a shame
Prioritizing mixed/biracial players. All these other teams have native or local goal keepers playing and doing a good job. From Mendy for Senegal, Andre Onana for Cameroon, Bounou for Morocco and the Egyptian goalkeeper. Watching them play, they did extremely well, especially the Egyptian goalkeeper against Morocco and beyond.. He was visibly upset when he had to get off for extra time when he put in that work. Gabalski is a second choice goalkeeper and he got man of the match in which Egypt lost. Okoye just breezes into the starting lineup out of nowhere. People like him because he is tatted and lightskin. People here saying oh he still Nigerian like all biracle players, they want them to play for Nigeria so bad, Nigerians and their low self esteem. Just like the people bleaching their skin in the Nollywood movies. Okoye is not good. I think Nigeria has the most biracial/mixed players in West Africa, they hate themselves so much. Francis Uzoho had a good thing going and the perfect size overall. Now Okoye soon have the most caps out of current goalkeepers
Inconsistent lineup: I remember seeing 6 different goalkeepers called up. I keep saying this, Jamilu Collins is a bad defender, he has been on a relegated German club for more then 3 years and they never been promoted, how is he gonna help
Poor experiences: This Nigerian team got a bunch of relegated players and or players who are not playing in the top 5 leagues. Majority of Cameroon and Senegal players are playing and or starting for Ligue 1 teams. Since Senegal and Cameroon were colonized by france they have an easy access to get top league experience and bring that back to the national team. Andre Onana plays for Ajax that almost went to the champions league final. Mendy won the champions league with Chelsea. What is Okoye going to do? Even African french colonized countries have 2nd or 3rd choice goalkeepers playing in the french league. England prioritizes their own people and academy players. Players of countries colonized by England most likely have to start in lower tier in the english league, because english league promote their own, use their academy and its tough to get in. If not that they have to start playing outside the top 5 league. The last time a Nigerian was recruited to play for english league was Taiwo Awoniyi and he left to go play for Union Berlin that could get 4th spot into champions league. Osimhen is playing in the europa league. The national team only got few top tier experience. Shoot, even Ekong cant adapt to the premier league he keeps getting beat and its obvious, watford already has terrible defense. Dennis has adapted to the premier league having 8 goals on a poor team. That is top tier experience, but he joint top in most yellow cards.
Social media recruiting: People here begging players born abroad or who is mixed/biracial players to play for Nigeria. Happened to Dessers and now they are all over Lookman page. When I look at the Senegalese and Cameroonian teams I see almost half the players born abroad, and they came to represent the national team without people begging them. The reason is because they have enough talent on the team even with local based players. The Senegal team for example, Boulaye Dia, Abdou Diallo, Kalidou Koulibaly, Nampalys Mendy, Bouna Sarr and Edouard Mendy.
Sacking Rohr at a time not appropriate is the reason for our AFCON disgraceful outing. I wonder what pinnick and Dare wanted to achieve. They would have waited for AFCON to be over and maybe the world cup playoff.
Secondly Nigerian players are too proud and boastful, they the cup in their hotel room even before kicking the ball in the round of 16. No discipline, no hunger, etc. Only Osimhen shows the kind of hunger I want to see.
I blame the sentimental fans:
1. For blindly canvancing for a coach who qualified a team for AFCON to be sacked 2 weeks to the tournament.
2. For always over hyping this players even befor the kick a ball.
3. For always donating players to the coach, and feeling bittered if a coach doesn’t play their crab players. I don’t think the Senegalese always recommend players for cisse. And I don’t think other countries does that too. We too bias as a people. I believe the Senegalese FA has a hand in who plays for team. But in Nigeria everything is politics, this was one of the reasons for Rohrs sack.
Lastly does Senegalese FA owes cisse 8 months salary Rohr was owed?
Does Senegalese FA owes players bonus amounting to almost 2 years?
Does Senegalese FA desides training ground and stadium for the coach? Or take the team on a country tour to satisfy politicians. This is one of the reasons Rohr was unhappy, and it affected the teams home play. Reasons we won more matches away than home.
Until we tell ourselves the hard truth, we will continue in a repeated circle of failed approach.
@Marvelous, I do not think sacking Rohr was responsible for our early exit, far from it. Rohr had lost grip of the team, we were struggling to beat Liberia away (It took 2 penalties to scale through), We lost to Central African Republic in Lagos, what an abomination! Some great footballing nations would have sacked him right after the game. How did we get here that we have become comfortable with mediocrity? Can Brazil lose at home at the Maracanã stadium to let say Bolivia and the Coach will keep his job? We are a proud footballing nation and justifiably so, our antecedents prove this.
We were almost humiliated in Lagos (which is a fortress) again when we played Sierra Leone. How about the narrow escape against Cape Verde and the coach had the audacity to tell the whole country that a draw against Cape Verde is like a win! and he said it in Lagos! The worst thing was the quality of football played, it was a complete eyesore!
Do you know that Rohr invited as many as 10 defenders to execute the nations cup qualifier against Sierra Leone? Some things he was doing did not make any sense.
The truth is Rohr was infecting the entire nation with his mediocrity, some fans have become comfortable celebrating draws and losses. If it wasn’t nipped at the bud, minnows would be beating us consistently and we would come to accept it.
Are there positives regarding Rohr? certainly, I like his project youth policy and he must take the credit for assembling this young group of players. He also fostered harmony within the team and his policy of picking players who were active at their respective clubs forced players to give their best at their clubs and in turn created competition within the team.
Having said that I fear that with Eguavoen, all of that would go down the drain. Fans who are hailing Coach Egu had better brace up, it is going to be a bumpy ride. Egu who was reported to have considered calling 18 year old Silas Nwankwo to camp (He just signed for a foreign club, please observe his picture carefully and tell me if he is 18) ahead of Dessers. The same coach who brought Onyekuru who had 0 goals and 0 assist ahead of players like Dessers and Amoo. If anything, it tells me his judgement is questionable, how then can we trust his judgement in deciding formations, tactics and substitutions.
Also, he was also reported to have said if he had sufficient time, he would bring in as many as 6 NPFL players! I do not have anything against local players but please let the selection be based on merit and not a quota system, so I am not too enthused with Eguavoen at the helm. The source of the problem is Amaju Pinnick and his cohorts; until there is a change in administration, we are just kidding ourselves.
