Edu says he has spoken with Arsenal about becoming their new technical director but won’t make a decision until after the Copa America. The Gunners were hoping to bring in highly-rated Monchi earlier in the year but he opted to return to former club Sevilla.

In the meantime, Arsenal have switched their attention to Edu, who is currently working as Brazil’s technical director, and he’s confirmed talks have taken place. Edu spent four years at Arsenal between 2001 and 2005 as a player and isn’t willing to make any commitments until after this summer’s Copa America.
“I had a conversation with Arsenal. There’s an interest,” said Edu. “I was very clear: I am 100 per cent focused on the Copa America. I’m not speaking about absolutely anything because of the Copa America. “If, by any chance, you [Arsenal] want to speak to me after the Copa, propose something after the Copa, I will make myself available so that we can talk. As for now, I am fully focused on the Copa.”
