Elderson Echiejile scored his first Finnish Veikkausliiga goal in his second start for his club, HJK Helsinki in their Monday’s 4-1 loss away to FC Inter Turku at the Veritas Stadium,Turku, Completesports.com reports.
The Nigeria international shot the visitors into an early lead after two minutes, but parity was restored for FC Inter eight minutes later through Timo Furuholm. Furuholm doubled FC Inter’s lead in the 19th minute.
HJK Helsinki defender Friday Obilor was sent off for a reckless tackle on a opponent to hand the host a numerical advantage.
In the second half, goals from Juuso Haemaelaeinen in the 49th minute and another from Daniel Kamy in the 63rd minute condemned HJK Helsinki their first defeat of the season.
HJK Helsinki dropped to fourth position in the table with the latest result. They had baggew two wins and three draws prior to the defeat at FC Inter.
Echiejile and his HJK teammates will face Ilves in their next game at home on Friday.
Echiejile joined HJK Helsinki on a one year deal with an option of another in January after mutually terminating his contract with AS Monaco last summer.
