Benfica defender Tyronne Ebuehi has been called up to replace injured Kenneth Omeruo in Nigeria’s squad for the friendly against Brazil at National Stadium, Singapore on October 13, reports Completesports.com.
Omeruo picked up an injury in training during the week with his Spanish club, Leganes and was left out of the Saturday’s LaLiga home clash against Levante.
The centre-back missed Nigeria’s last friendly against Ukraine at the Dnipro Arena as a result of visa issues.
Ebuehi was invited for the game but later withdrew from the squad due to injury.
The right-back recently returned to action for Benfica and is now set to make his first appearance for the Super Eagles in over a year.
The former ADO Den Haag missed the whole of last season after picking up a cruciate ligament injury in training.
He missed out on a place in Nigeria’s squad to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt after failing to recover in time from the injury.

happy for ebuehi
Doesn’t look nice at the backline. No Leon, no Ken, I smell disaster coming.
I don’t envinsaged any disaster. Ajayi on current form is capable of playing at the central defence. He was once more outstanding in West Brom victory today.
Good and bad news.
Ebuehi take your chance.
I guess Awasiem and Ekong will play 5 & 6 while Collins and Ebuehi will play wing backs.
Quick recovery Omeruo.
No cause for alarm… Ajayi and Ekong can start at centre back… They are good enough and people should know that Ajayi is a versatile player… I think he is faster than Umeruo but assumming Umeruo is fit then him starting is normal but I believe Ajayi can slot in perfectly well. Ebuehi should not start as he needs to be solid on confidence and his physical conditioning after a long injury layoff… I am however suspect of Collins speed since Brazilians are fast on the wings with trickery… Collins could not really take Mahrez the last time in a duel… Brazilian are more ruthless…
Have you watched Semi Ajayi play? He is really good and tidy
I suspect a 3-5-2 formation. That’s what we used against Argentina during the friendly after the tried running unchecked in the first half. Ebuehi is really good as wing back and really made Di Maria look inferior when he came in.
We have three full backs, one of which can play central defence (Aina)
We have 3 defenders, one of which can play right back (Awaziem)
Troost is certain to start and can be parents with the tough tackling Awaziem or the ball playing Ajayi.
I doubt Ebuehi coming back from injury will play more than half the game
A central defender in the mould of Balogun should have come in for the crocked Omeruo.Ebuehi has just recovered from injury and should have been left out to get better in this international break. The lad for over a year now has been down with injury and needs to be careful.
We have three natural central defenders going into the internationals,I hope they all stay fit for this very important duel.
I think Rohr will continue with the Ajayi / Ekong partnership just like he did against Ukraine. They weren’t bad in that game being the first time they played together in an high profile match. I was looking forward to an Awaziem / Omeruo combo going by their performance so far for Leganes this season. To be honest Ajayi has been Nigeria’s best defender in Europe so far this season albeit he plays in the Championship. I will prefer Aina to continue in the right back position. Aina, Ekong, Ajayi, Collins will most likely be the back four starting against Brazil.
The central defence and goal keeping dept remain the weakest link in SE. The absence of Omeruo and Balogun has really worsen the situation because Ekong can not match the speed, positioning and b the ll playing skills of these reliable defenders.
Goodluck to SE
What most people don’t know is as it is right now, SEMI AJAYI is way way better than Ekong in defence. I see people saying our Center back is now the weak link???? Seriously??? My question for you people is HAVE YOU WATCHED SEMI AJAYI play??? If you have, you will see he is a very very good Centre back. A great baller. Probably he’s being underrated by football novice because he doesn’t play in A top club in the Premiership.
Seeing the headline, I was super happy for TYRONNE EBUEHI! He’s always up to the task. We all saw how he placed Di-Maria in his pocket last time out. If given the chance, he will do same to Neymar and Neymar is this type of player that easily gets frustrated and might even be carded when his marker gives him no space. I’m super confident about our backline as well. I know the Starting line up will surely be Aina, Ekong, Ajayi and Collins. Then Awaziem and Ebuehi can be introduced in the second half.
This is good but I would have preferred Eze to My Pikin Ebuehi. Simply because he Ebuehi is not fully recovered.
However, every coach has his own type of players but that Eze deserves a place in Super Eagles team.
If Ebuehi is fit, Aina should not play full match against Brazil because Aina is a kind of defender you can dribble easily. This sounds somehow but go back and watch some of our matches that Aina played before you talk.
We need our best players to play against Brazil. No sentiment but if coach Rohr allows sentiments on that day against Brazil, Super Eagles will be disgraced.
Another thing is, we have to play the way we played Cameroon in Uyo during the world cup qualifiers. Super Eagles attacked together and defended together in that match.
They gave no space to the Cameroonians to operate in that match. Hmmm, as I said earlier, Oga Rohr need Eze and two best players in each role.
He have to let his stroops understand that winning Brazil is possible. They are beatable.
This is why I always hailing coach Dennerby because he doesn’t has Messi or Ronaldo in his squad before he competes with those big teams in France women world cup.
Even, if you realized that what you have doesn’t up to the standard of your opponent, then you install confidence and never say die and winning mentality in your team.
Oga Rohr need a game plan. I repeat, a solid game plan that will work for his team.
I want to see a new Super Eagles team of Nigeria against Brazil because this match is beyond a friendly match as Mr. Kanu have said. I wish my loved Super Eagles a successful outing against the Brazilian team. My lovely Oga Rohr, good luck to you as well sir. Hmm, Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
