Nigeria women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress opponent in their Paris 2024 opener, Australia, convincingly defeated China 91-63 in a friendly match on Friday, Completesports.com reports.
The match, held at Melbourne’s John Cain Arena, marked the Australians’ second victory against China in their Olympic warm-up series.
Both teams’ previous encounter on July 3rd ended in a 28-margin gap, 94-66 win for the Australians, thanks to Isobel Borlase and Alice Kunek who recorded the highest scorers with 19 points each.
Meanwhile, the match on Friday saw Amy Atwell emerge as the top scorer with 17 points.
The Australians will face D’Tigress in their opening game of the Paris 2024 Olympics women’s basketball event on July 29th.
The matchup will be held at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille, France.
Both teams have been drawn in Group B at the Paris 2024 Olympics, alongside Canada, and hosts France.
