Manchester United are prepared to pay a record £100million to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho this summer, according to The Independent. Sancho still has three years left to run on his contract but the 19-year-old England winger has reportedly been earmarked as a key target by new United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was appointed on a permanent basis at Old Trafford last week.

According to The Independent, the Norwegian wants Sancho as part of a youthful, pace-led front line featuring current United stars Marcus Rashford, 21, and Anthony Martial, 23. However, Dortmund, who currently sit at the top of the Bundesliga, only last week said that Sancho would not be sold in the forthcoming transfer window.
Sporting director Michel Zorc said: “His transfer will be difficult, even for the biggest clubs.” United look ready to test the German giants’ resolve though with a £100million bid, a sum which would eclipse the British transfer record of £89million, the fee paid by United for Paul Pogba in 2017. Around the same time Pogba signed at Old Trafford, Sancho left Manchester City for Dortmund in a bid to further his career.
He was taken his chance with both hands and is enjoying a real breakthrough season. He has 13 assists for Dortmund in the Bundesliga this season. That is one more than Lionel Messi at Barcelona and the most in any of Europe’s top five leagues. His club appearances resulted in his England debut against Croatia in October, while his first competitive start came last month in the 3-0 win over the Czech Republic at Wembley.
