Super Falcons captain Onome Ebi has joined Nigeria Women’s Football side, Naija Ratels on a free transfer.
The veteran defender was in the books of Spanish Iberdola side, Levante Las Planas last season.
The 40-year-old is making a return to the Nigerian top-flight 15 years after leaving Bayelsa Queens.
Ebi also played for clubs in Sweden, Turkey, Belarus, China and Spain.

Which captain? Please she is as good as retired. Let her complete her retirement from football at the local side
You are right
Rats or Ratels? What a name!!
The Grand mother of Nigeria Super Falcons. Congratulations Big Mama.
The phrase ‘old soldier never die’ comes to mind. In men’s football, a Super Eagles player I respect so much in Rabiu Ali is still going strong at the ripe age of 43.
So, it is not entirely inconceivable for Ebi to aim for attending the Olympics in Paris next year at the age of 42.
Joining a local team is the only way forward as no self respecting European club would want to invest in a granny defender who will have a generation of daughters as teammates.
So, with limited options abroad, Ebi now plans to add massive value to the domestic scene.
“I want to give back to Nigerian football,” said Ebi.
“Not only to give, not only to support but to play with the youngest team, I said I was not going to play for big teams, so these young ones can get the opportunity I didn’t have,” she said.
That’s all well and good but those same young players will have their opportunities curtailed in the Super Falcons if older ones hold on far longer than may be seen to be necessary.
