Serie A club Udinese have completed the signing of Maduka Okoye on a four-year contract.
The Super Eagles goalkeeper joined Udinese from Sky Bet Championship club, Watford.
The 23-year-old will wear jersey number 40 at his new club.
Okoye made two appearances for Watford during his one-year spell at the Vicarage Road.

The shot stopper arrived from Eredivisie outfit Sparta Rotterdam last summer but endured a torrid spell at the club.
The former Fortuna Dusseldorf goalie suffered an injury towards the end of the campaign.
Okoye failed to make Watford’s matchday squad this season prior to the transfer.
He will play alongside fellow Nigerians Isaac Success and Kingsley Ehizibue at the Dacia Arena.

Congratulations Okoye, please seize this opportunity, don’t let it go bye.
IMPROVE yourself and fight back
The best news I’ve heard in recent times. Somebody among these dead goalies has to step up. Nothing in that department yet. This guy was once the real deal in Netherlands , was even seen as the replacement for Onana back then for Ajax. Nice to hear from you Emilio.
Best opportunity to relunch ur career.. we cannot ask for more. Big congrats
Get back to full fitness, regain the form that made you a GK of the season in the Eredivisie and 2 time player of the season at Sparta Rotherdam and come back to regain your shirt as the long term No 1 of the Super Eagles.
All the best son…!
This is a good move for Okoye who should count himself lucky to be signed up by a Serie A team even without playing for a whole season. He must now do everything to exorcise the ghost of Watford and make this move successful and memorable. He must hit the ground running, put himself in the best shape competitively, force the gaffer to give him some game time, and get as many clean sheets as possible under his belt. If he allows a repeat of the Watford experience, it will become very difficult for him to rediscover his career. I wish him the best of luck.
Great news.
Very good news! Return of Nigeria’s Prodigal Son. If he gets game time, the Super Eagles are in business!
Tread carefully, SE not looking to ever be in business with this present NFF. They are as daft as mucked up ratbags. JUST LITTLE OR NO GOVERNMENT FUNDS, THEN OUR DREAMS OF PRODUCING A QUALITY SE EXPERIENCES A DOWNWARD SPIRAL
Watford and Udinese have the same owners, so this is basically an “in house” transfer.
The same thing happened to Troost Ekong a few years ago. Only difference is that he went in the opposite direction, from Udinese to Watford.
For a while now, Okoye has been on SE sabbatical, notably beginning after the astonishing gaffe in the friendly against the Algeria B team, where he took the needless risk of trying to dribble an Algerian forward right inside his 6-yard box, with that unfortunate transaction concluding with him on his backside and the ball in his net. A blunder that would be considered unpardonable even at Sunday league level.
Peseiro has not given him the time of day since that unfortunate incident.
Time they say is the great healer of wounds, and enough time has passed by since then. A great opportunity for the young man to get his career rerouted in the right direction. With him getting back to form, perhaps Peseiro or whoever the SE coach is will be willing to give him another try.
Yes @Pompei Isaac Success too.
Thumbs up @Ugo. Isaac Success is far better than Taiwo Awoniyi.
How, proof with results.
Ugo, that’s right.
Granada, Udinese and Watford. All owned by Pozzo Family
This is fantabulous news. Nigerian players are going places. Okoye you are far better than Andre Onana. This move will bring out the best in your abilities. U are the best goalkeeper in Africa.
Heaven bless Okoye and all deserving Super Eagles goalkeepers
This a chance Okoye must take so that he can return forcefully to Super Eagles then he can be number one of Jose Peseiro line-up in the coming AFCON. qualifier between SE aganist Sao Tome & Principe in 10 september 2023 at Goodwill Akpabio in Uyo; and the next USA and Canada & Mexico World Cup qualifier in 2026 in next november 2023.
Goodnews for Maduka okoye and SE. Right step in the right direction. Let’s also watch out for Tobias Okikiola Lawal tonight in the Europa League qualifications. Tobias is now #1 keeper for Lask in Austrian League.
Tobias would have to give up his Austrian passport and citizenship to represent Nigeria. I dont see him ever getting to represent Nigeria, Good news though that he is now No 1 at LASK.
Well said brotherly Drey. We need to look at Sebastian Osigwe too.
Well said brotherly,
Okoye will return to the Super Eagles. Uzoho needs to sit up. Adeleye is not ready.. only John Noble is as good as Okoye.. Noble is also a foreign based player.
GOOD ONE BOY!!
GENERAL ROAR who DISCOVER you for the SE will be very PROUD of you…
@ Monkey Post, you dey form Ekpan Fly with your Rohr matter ooo. Hopefully, you can forgive NFF and Move on from Rohr matter one day.
FORGIVE NFF? Maybe. But I will never FORGIVE the likes of JIMMYBALL,UGO,CHIMA,OMO9JA,FEMI,PAPAFEM SHUAIB,CHINENYE,LARRY, CHRISTIAN MISSIONARY or whatever etc… For causing GENERAL ROAR’S SACKING…
I’m not certain he can displace Sylvestri at this time unless he’s really good and in top form. He needs a club where he will be playing regularly. Maybe a loan move back to the Netherlands or any other decent league.
In my opinion he has to be in an extremely remarkable form to displace Marco Syvestri. Though Sylvestri is now 32, but we all know that’s the peak age for goalkeepers. I wish Maduka all the best though.
Czesny vs Buffon came to mind …after 2 or 3 seasons
Who is Marco Sylvestri? Okoye is a top goalkeeper, he will relegate your Marco to the bench. Leave story a beg.
I hope so ooo! My good buddy Igbekun. Oyel Dey your head. You’re one of the few people that still makes me stay on this forum. @Sean I get your point let’s hope he can displace Sylvestri this season.
Igbekun, tell dem let dem hear. Sylvestri no reach. Okoye will take him to the cleaners. Okoye is the best. Head and shoulders above the rest. It’s Okoye or nobody.
Very funny, okoye best goalkeeper in Africa, better than onana, smh. He had common watford to displace his abilities he couldn’t, if he was that good sparta should have called him back, well lets see what happens at udinese
