Nathan Tella got an assist as Bayer Leverkusen defeated Bundesliga 2 club Elversberg in Round 2 of the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday night.
It was Tella’s assist this season for the reigning Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal champions.
Also in action for Xabi Alonso side was Victor Boniface who came on for Schick with 11 minutes left.
Tella got his side to the best start as he set up Patrik Schick for the opening goal.
Just seven minutes after giving Bayer Leverkusen the lead, Schick made it 2-0 while Aleix Garcia added the third on 36 minutes.
Tella was taken off in the 69th minute for Alex Grimaldi.
Both Tella and Boniface helped Leverkusen clinched the DFB-Pokal last season.
It was the club’s second Cup title after landing their first in the 1992/1993 season.
