Cyriel Dessers is determined to make huge impact at Scottish Premiership club Glasgow Rangers despite criticisms from the fans.
Dessers linked up with the Gers from Italian club Cremonese this summer.
The Nigeria international has however failed to win over the fans despite his huge reputation.
The 28-year-old claimed criticisms over his performance is unfair as he has done his best for the club.
Some reactions even make me laugh. First of all, I think many people underestimate what it is like to move to another country,*Dessers told the Daily Record.

“My stats this season are not bad, but I don’t think it is great either. Before the season, I set a goal of 25 goal contributions, so I’m on target in that regard.”
The striker however admitted that he is yet to hit top form and is working hard to improve on his performance.
“I have not yet reached my absolute top form, and that’s something I work hard for every day. In terms of general level, the Belgian and Dutch competitions are also better than the Scottish and of course Serie A is a different level, but there are hardly any easy matches here,” he added.
Dessers has scored three goals in 10 league appearances for the Light Blues.
Hw is expected to be in action when Rangers take on Hearts on Sunday (today).

Owing to his pedigree, Rangers fans had expected that Nigeria international Cyriel Dessers will hit the ground running.
But that has not been the case.
3 goals contributions (goals and assists) in 10 league matches are seen as most unacceptable to fans of the Scottish giants.
Take a trip to Turkey and you will see how Paul Onuachu has defined “hitting the ground running”. The beanpole striker – who is often seen as surplus to requirements by a bevy of Super Eagles fans – has garnered 5 goals contributions in 7 league matches since ditching England where his star failed to shine.
Whereas Dessers is held in higher regards by more Super Eagles fans, it is actually Onuachu whose current form justifies Super Eagles invitation in this time. After all, Turkish and Scottish leagues are of similar standards in my view.
What has gone wrong for Dessers in Scotland?
Well, Dessers believes Rangers fans are just raising needless storm in a teacup.
He reckons that there is time for him to accumulate very many goals before the end of the season.
“My stats this season are not bad, but I don’t think it is great either. Before the season, I set a goal of 25 goal contributions, so I’m on target in that regard.” Said Dessers.
Personally I (deo) had also expected Dessers to hit the ground running in Scotland. But his form has been indifferent. Already in the periphery of the Super Eagles, expecting him to make the Afcon squad on this form seems impossible.
But anything is possible.
I like Onuachu and Dessers but would I would happily pick Dessers if hard pressed to pick one of the two.
But on present form, Onuachu deserves to be in the Super Eagles ahead of the Rangers man.
Feed Onuachu and he will score.

…to me these below as of current form should make the final 23man squad to nations Cup.
Goalkeepers(Nwabali,Uzoho,Rasheed)
Defenders(Aina,Osayi,Torunarigha,Ajayi,Umeruo,Awaziem,Bruno,Zaidu)
Midfielders(Ndidi,Iwobi,Raphael,Onyeka,Akpom)
Attackers(Iheanacho,Chukwueze,Osimhen,Boniface,Akor,Lookman,Simon)
If we are allowed to take 25man squad, I will add Onuachu(he is a special kind of player who can unlock tight games with his height advantage and heading ability when well-fed) and I will also add either Ifeanyi Ifeanyi of FC Zurich or Obinna Nwobodo of Cincinnatti FC. Bassey isn’t yet consistent for national team duties… I am not so convinced about his maturity in central defence and for me, he does not bench Zaidu or Bruno on the left.
YOU WILL LEAVE AWONIYI AND TAKE PLAYERS FROM RELATIVELY UNKNOWN LEAGUES . HOW MANY OF SUPER EAGLES STRIKERS CAN PERFORM AS AWONIYI HAS DONE. PREMIERSHIP IS JUST TOO COMPETITIVE. DON’T HAVE PROBLEMS WITH PLAYERS YOU CHOSE IN THE DEFENSE AND MIDFIELD, THE ONLY PLAYER YOU KEFT OUT IS AWONIYI SO I WILL REPLACE HIM WITH AKOR. FRENCH LEAGUE IS NOT AS STRONG AS PREMIERSHIP AND DONT FORGET OUR MAUN STEIKER OSI IS PRONE TO INJURY ONLY AWONIYI CAN DEPUTIZE HIM, AWO HAS BEEN TO THE NATION’S CUP BEFORE .THE LIKES OF BONIFACE AND AKOR MIGHT FIND IT DIFFICULT TO REPLICATE CLUB FORM AT THE TOURNAMENT. WITH THE INCLUSION OF AWO AND POSSIBLY LETS SEE TELLA AND BASIRU PLAY IN THE WORLD CUP QUALIFIER TO ACCESS THEIR IMPACT, I WILL ALSO NFF INVITE AKOR FOR WORLD CUP MATCHES TO ACCESS HIM FOR THE TOURNAMENT NOT JUST MENTIONING NAMES BECAUSE THEY ARE PERFORMING AT VARIOUS CLUB.WITH THIS AM FINE WITH YOUR SELECTION.
Awoniyi is a very good striker for Nottingham forest unfortunately, struggles with the super eagles.I won’t include him in my roster if I were the super eagles coach
All I can say is that thank God none of you guys are the coach. Someone actually said feed onuachu and he will score, really ! Why do we Nigerians get easily swayed.I guess this is why these politicians continue to play us like ping pong. We have extremely short memories , onuachu could not muster 1 goal at the epl after his big money move and was sent to the bench permanently. He is playing in a farmers league in Turkey and he is simply not good enough. Another person mentions dessers; I was a big fan of him but going to Italy really exposed him as there is gulf in class between the serie a and the Dutch league.
He moved to another farmers league and he is still struggling; we are talking about the super eagles here! Some of these players are not good enough. In my opinion Aribo, Uzoho, maduka, onuachu, dessers have no business with this team at the moment. If we are truly serious about qualifying for the wc and ruffling feathers in 2026 then we must put sentiments aside and start to weed out all these average players. Aribo is not even a starter at Southampton in the championship! Chai , how the mighty have fallen. How do you think westerhof built a formidable team? We heard dimeji lawal lament recently that finidi ended his SE career, that is how it is done. How can we have boniface ,osimhen, awoniyi, akor terem moffi and even akpom and we are still mentoring onuachu? I just can wrap my mind around the logic. There is no quality he has that these strikers would not best him at. Is it pace, dribbling, ball control, you name it. Welbeck scores the odd goal for Brighton sometimes but do you see the fans of the 3 lions asking for his inclusion when you have Harry kane, rashford,Watkins from villa, the Newcastle striker, ivan toney.if they want to be included, let them go to a top 5 league like epl, Spain,France, Germany , Italy and perform well. ONLY then can they be taken seriously.
LOL! Some very nice jokes sha!
Some are saying they will leave AWogoal and take likes of Chuks, Lookman and Onuchua lool! Mehn wonders will never end o!
Chai, Nigerians and their backward brains SMH!
My brother I tire o
Some even prefer Dessers to Awo loool!
Chaii! Nuff said!
Awo is the direct replacement for oshimen. So if anything do oshimen in afcon na who go play 9 for us pple just yan nonsense.
I have no doubt that you will prove yourself once again at Rangers Dessers.
I believe in your ability, uniqueness, and never give up Nigeria spirit.
You have done it before, and you have to do it this time around.
However, I have been waiting for you to hit the ground running, but sometimes it doesn’t happen that way, but you have to keep pushing Dessers.
We saw what all of our strikers did in the last Afcon, and I can say it today that unfit Dessers is wsy better than most of the current strikers in the Super Eagles.
Not that because I like Dessers too much I’m saying this, but the way it is currently, if I were Oga Paseiro, I would include Dessers in my team.
All he needs is 20 minutes at the national team to get the job done for us. Dessers is very unique in his own way, and having him for the World Cup qualifiers is an advantage to the team.
My point here is very clear and simple. After Osimhen, who can we rely on in the Super Eagles? Moffi, Awoniyi, Boniface? For me I will go for Dessers, then Boniface.
On the other hand, Oga Paseiro hasn’t said anything about the possibility of giving a chance to another goal stopper. The gaffer hasn’t heard of Nwabali that is doing well in the South Africa league? How about Olorunleke, Goodman, and Jonathan Rasheed?
What is the purpose of having a foreign coach in the national? I don’t blame the new coach because NFF can never hire the best for Nigeria.
If not because Oliseh was not be patient with the situation of things, he has the charisma to take a risk. The introduction of Ikeme says a lot of him.
It is very possible that Uzoho and Okoye will be in charge when Nigeria is playing their World Cup qualifiers, and if that happens, expect nothing from Oga Paseiro but unimpressive result. Fingers crossed. God bless Nigeria!!!
I left out Awoniyi because he is injury prone and to be honest, he is in a race against time. However, we have two months to go… form will be very key for attackers who will make the cut… Akor is a newbie but the dude seems to be gatecrashing nations Cup party as it stands… he is Boniface height and probably equally strong. But of all truth… Osimhen and Boniface are already on that nations Cup Bus.
People should start paying attention to Gabriel Osho of Luton. He has been super brilliant since he came back from an Injury spell. He single-handedly kept Mo Sallah quiet in their game today. He has been consistent since his return from injury.
Akpom scored two goals again today ! No news about it.
@Sean. That is what we call a star. I said this to you about Nwabali, but you did not get it.
You were only focused on the 4 goals scored from Nwabali, but not the way those goals bn scored. You failed to identify the loopholes in that weak B team that NFF took to face a strong Mexican A team.
Nonetheless, you can’t compare Dessers to Akpan in the Super Eagles.
Dessers has to caps to his name while Akpan has none and talking about their commitments towards the national team, Dessers is way ahead of the Akpan period.
Learn how to figure out qualities sounding each player before doing anything, my man.
To be frank with you, I will pick Dessers Boniface and Tella over Awoniyi, Moffi, and Sodiq Umar.
When we are talking about a complete striker, Dessers is better, fantastic, and deadly in front of goal. Compare to Awoniyi, Moffi, and Sodiq at the national team. Half Dessers is better to have in the Super Eagles team. Akpan is a great player, too he have to wait for his time. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
@ Omo9ja , Which Dessers is better than Boniface? pls can you bring on the stats for Dessers,?? you can chose to Love Dessers personally but any coach would look at the proven abilities of a player which include his career stats and judging from that Boniface , Awoniyi and even Moffi are miles ahead of Dessers, no matter your personal love for him, it cant convince anyone that Dessers is Nigerian current 2nd best striker after Osimhen.
