Cyriel Dessers has revealed that he was close to linking up with LaLiga outfit Celta Vigo in January but the move was blocked by his former Dutch club Heracles Almelo.
Aside Celta Vigo, Italian side SPAL were also interested in acquiring the services of the forward during the winter transfer window.
Dessers eventually linked up Belgian Pro League club KRC Genk this summer shunning interests from Atalanta, Cagliari, Galatasaray and Feyenoord.
He finished as joint top scorer with 15 goals in the Eredivisie last season.
“In my head I was almost at Celta, but Heracles blocked the transfer,” Dessers told La Derniere Heure.
“They needed their top scorer.
“I also spoke with SPAL, but the club was last in Serie A and that didn’t really appeal to me.”
