Club Brugge hero Emmanuel Dennis is disappointed that the club failed to grab all three points at stake in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League Group A clash against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, Completesports.com reports.
Dennis scored twice in the first half before the hosts rallied back after the break through strikes from Sergio Ramos and Casemiro to forced a 2-2 draw.
The Nigeria international came close to recording a hat-trick in the second half of the game, but was denied by Real’s goalkeeper .
“The feeling would have been even better if we had taken the three points home with us. Everyone expected Real to easily set us aside, but we prepared well and believed in our game,” Dennis told reporters after the game.
“We believed we could pick something up here. When we were 2-0 up, it gave us a good feeling, but it still played in the back of our minds that such a top team could also straighten this out. I am slightly disappointed with this one point. But it is a good point because you made it on the move in Bernabéu. This remains a big team,” Dennis remarked.
Dennis, who has one senior cap for Nigeria and is in the Super Eagles squad for the October 13 international friendly against Brazil in Singapore also reflects on his two goals.
“With the first goal, I wanted to control the ball so that the goalkeeper would lie down. But I missed my control so that my body was no longer in balance and I could work it in with my other foot,” he stated.
“The second goal – I checked the ball and wanted to decide immediately, but I saw Courtois come out wild, so I decided to ‘chip’ the ball. Which ultimately paid off. It is a shame that the goalkeeper turned out with a good save at the third chance.
“I didn’t want to shoot to that side but the goalkeeper drove me there. Whether I will have a tattoo placed since I scored here? I like to make jokes for the camera (laughs).”

Is he included in d current Super eagles squad
Yes he is among the invited players…
The Brugge coach blundered in taking off the best player they had and tried to protect the lead. It would have been better to go down attacking rather than put up a rear guard defence.
That said, Dennis has probably taken Onyekuru’s spot in the squad and it’s left for henry to get a good run in Monaco. But with Slimani performing very well, the options are limited for him
At this rate, Henry Onyekuru might find it difficult to fully fulfill his potentials for the Super Eagles simply because other options are playing regularly for their clubs.
…….the fact that the dude is hardly ever fit during international windows has done his SE chance more harm than good
Onyekuru, Iheanacho, Musa ,Moses Simon the emergence of Dennis Emmanuel and co is gradually becoming the beginning of wisdom. How I wish we had stiff competition like this in the choice of our goalkeepers ?
Pls remove Moses Simon from your list. Simon is super Eagles material anytime the guy is not going anywhere.moses can attack, defend and take on players one on one, and has more assists ratio than some of our midfielders
Oga SunnyB, Moses Simon might have lost his edge dribble-wise, other aspects of his game remain intact.
His crosses, link up play, composure and goal threats are all in order. Also, I think he is arguably the best defensive minded winger that we have out there at the moment.
Plus he plays regularly in France.
I don’t expect him to start but I think his experience makes him a Worthy Squad Member.
