Liverpool legend Michael Owen has hailed Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Dennis as one of Premier League great finishers after his brilliant goal against Aston Villa earned Watford a vital three points.
The Nigerian international struck the only goal of the match to secure a shock 1-0 win over Steven Gerrard’s high flying Villa in the Premier League.
Dennis, who joined Watford from Club Brugge, has started life in the England top flight impressively.
“I was surprised with the last result with Burnley and I was equally surprised with this one, Watford winning away at Aston Villa,” Owen told Premier League Productions.
“Dennis, what a player, what a signing he’s been in the Premier League this season, great finish again from him.”
Dennis has now scored 9 goals and provided 5 assists for the relegation battling side in 22 league games.

Michael Owen Thinks so but @MONKEY POST thinks not… hahhahahah lol..
LMFAO!Stop misquoting me Oga!I never said so!But however even if late(great)Maradona comes back to life to endorse him. IghaLord and Osigoal remains SE striking force for Ghana
Dennis has a great foot work with a very accurate shooting ability…….this makes Dennis a very unique player which SE should be happy to have in it’s armoury…….It really surprises me that Dennis is a home grown talent……I was discussing with a British fan who was arguing with me that there is no way Dennis could have been groomed in Nigeria.
@Akp you’re right i think Dennis is a home grown player he is really a unique player but my advice for him is that he should be focous and keeps on working hard the sky is his limits.
I think whats really special about Dennis is his confidence. Even at times when things are not going right for him, he always maintains that good confidence level when on the ball. He may not be as fast as Moses Simon and Chukwueze in the flanks, but he definitely has other qualities , and I think he’s a bit more intelligent. However, that is if he’s willing to be part of the super eagles again. Otherwise, we’ve got a couple of other options.
“He is not as fast as Simon& chukwueze”. My brother this dude is rapid. He is definitely faster Simon and chukwueze.
This just shows you haven’t seen much of him. You should be comparing him to Osimhen in terms of pace not Simon.
Good for him but we don’t want him.
That’s for the coach to decide
You don’t want him because of ? You do not throw the baby and the birth water away. The people who count in this regard have squashed the beef with him and that’s all that matters.
He is our best winger now, the stats do not lie. 9 goals and 5 assists in the toughest league and you do not want that? Moses Simon who some are praising to be the best winger now has 3 goals and a lot more assist than him in an inferior league.
I do not think he is a trouble maker , I think he is outspoken and confident of his ability. Unfortunately we do not like that in Nigeria where we are used to repression.
He is definitely a trouble maker and rude, but we Nigerians fans have forgiven him and move on, that still depend on him wanting to join the party though, the coach should not beg nobody.
Hmmm.. your opinion anyways. Funny how quick we are to judge when we do not know all the story. I will give an example, i was enroute from Togo to Lagos and when the time came to board our flight, we witnessed an unusually long queue. When we enquired, we were informed that there were passengers who had no ticket who had boarded the aircraft. Airport authorities informed us to go to another wing and queue there. We are informed that the plane will taxi to the new wing. After getting through security and about to board, we started hearing thunderous voices of threat and it was clear who the aggressors were, the Nigerians. These guys were Nigerians who had no tickets but wanted to board the airplane. An altercation ensued and airport authorities used force to arrest these Nigerians. All this information was captured on passengers phones and went viral.
I was shocked to read in a Nigerian blog of how Togo airport authorities were treating our people poorly. Reading the comments section of the blog site, there were many Nigerians who showed their displeasure on how Nigerians were treated in the Diaspora. However, i witnessed it first hand and that enabled me to form a balanced opinion on the issue as i knew the truth.
The point for all this epistle is that if you are not armed with all the facts, be slow to judge. He may be all these things you stated above but the thing is, you might not have all the facts.
The so called troublemaker and rude player has been the standout player under 3 managers at watford and not one had a bad thing to say about him publicly, at least not yet. He fell out with the previous manager (GR) because he was asked to be demoted to the under 23 for the olympic qualifier and he refused. The feeling of demotion does not enthrall anyone but Dennis unlike other young players who were demoted to play for the u23 was a more established player for his club than Osimhen, Chukwueze and Awaziem. Tell Osimhen to do that now and i can assure you he will react differently.
Also, on the issue of Afcon 2022, He was in touch with Coach Egus and he informed him that they threatened him with his livelihood, this is a fact confirmed by Cerezo himself. It was also confirmed that he wanted to come, his former coach collaborated this and Cerezo himself. His Club prevented him from coming and used a technicality in his invitation to stop him from coming to the Afcon. Ighalo wasted a slot and was also prevented from attending the afcon but he is celebrated and Dennis is slated. I believe he has become a victim of his own reputation.
I do not know the man but i believe he deserves a fair hearing in the court of public opinions.
You and who???@Holded…. Don’t allow envy, hatred and jealousy kill you, okay? Nonsense.
Pls bro Emmanuel Dennis, you are most welcomed to the SE fold once again. The NFF and SE coaches have demonstrated your importance to the SE and vice versa, by their visit. Cheers!
Just to add, Emmanuel Dennis along with Kelechi Iheanacho are amongst the best and most clinical finishers (strikers) in the present SE, even above Osimhen and Ighalo. The first two are very good with both feet and good head masters!
Meanwhile, Dennis and Osimhen share superiority in aerial competence (towering headers).
He should have learned his lesson now. He never scored a single goal during afcon. He got red card.he got injured. Watford stayed in relegation zone. That should tell him he is not maradona, Messi or Ronaldo. He is not okocha, kanu, yekinini. Though he can grow to be one.
We can’t throw him away. He is good. We can pardon him and learn how to curtail him.
We need people like him in this crazy setting like ours.
If this guy was in afcon, he would have converted some goals easily. He is fast and a better finisher.
