Fisayo Dele Bashiru is a very fit, energetic Box-to-box midfielder who can also score goals at will and should now be a permanent feature in Super Eagles midfield. The SE coach should make more use of this talent. The problem of blunt midfielders has exercerbated SE scoring ability- and when Osimhen and Lookman are marked out, the SE struggles with scoring goals.
Another great display of skill, strength, and speed. A central midfielder in the mold of Yaya T.
So far, Fisayo has shown that he is a big game player and can only get better.
The SE midfield needs to be upgraded. The best combination can be obtained from Fiisayo, Onyedika, Chrisantus, Hamzat, and Dele Bashiru.
All these guys need is a good coach that can take the oga at the top boiz..
This is a fantastic performance great display of respect . He is a midfielder to be taken seriously.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is the midfield gem the Super Eagles need to polish and flaunt more often. Let’s get this straight—he’s not exactly a newbie, having already made a handful of appearances under Eguavoen. In fact, he scored his first goal in just his second game against South Africa, making an instant case for why he deserves more game time. Yet somehow, he’s not getting the spotlight he clearly deserves. It’s like buying a Ferrari and leaving it in the garage because you’re still attached to your trusty old Corolla.
This guy is the modern midfielder we’ve been praying for. Nigeria has spent years searching for another Jay-Jay Okocha or even a Mikel Obi, only to recycle the same old setups. Dele-Bashiru might not be your classic playmaker, but he offers something unique: box-to-box energy, the ability to score crucial goals, and a knack for taking defenders by surprise. Just look at his goal-scoring knack—two already for the Super Eagles in limited appearances—and then consider how that could transform our often toothless midfield.
At Lazio, he’s proving his worth with performances that scream “big player.” That rocket against Napoli last week that smashed the crossbar? Sheer audacity. His Champions League goal against Astana? Proof he can deliver on the biggest stages. This isn’t just potential; this is talent in full bloom. So why isn’t he being used more effectively in the Super Eagles? Sure, Eguavoen has given him chances, but Dele-Bashiru isn’t a benchwarmer—he’s a game-changer.
Nigeria has been overly reliant on Osimhen and Lookman to bail us out. But when they’re locked down, we often look clueless. Dele-Bashiru is the guy who can take those long-range risks, make those daring runs, and disrupt the opposition’s game plan. It’s high time we stopped treating him like an afterthought and started building our midfield around him. Eguavoen or the new coach coming, the ball is in your court. Or better still, in Dele-Bashiru’s boots.
