Former AC Milan captain Massimo Ambrosini says the progress made under Gennaro Gattuso means he deserves more time in the role.
Gattuso has been in charge at the San Siro since November 2017 but, with uncertainty off the pitch, he has often seen his role come into question.
The Rossoneri currently sit fourth in Serie A and have lost just once in the league since the end of November.
It has been a chaotic few years at the club due to uncertainty off the field but Ambrosini believes his former team-mate’s work with the players has been admirable.
With doubts still surrounding the coach’s future, the 41-year-old has called for him to be given more time to try and transform the team into title challengers.
“I really like it, he’s doing an extraordinary job,” Ambrosini told Gazzetta dello Sport. “I really do not understand what more can be asked for. “He has given this group mental strength, awareness, and above all a soul. “When it comes to improving the players, I think he has succeeded.”
