Saracens lock Dominic Day has agreed a deal to join Major League Rugby team San Diego Legion in the USA. The 33-year-old Wales international, who has been at the club for two years, racking up 32 appearances, has played his part in Sarries’ recent success and admitted he will look back on his time there with fond memories.
“It’s been an amazing two years,” Day told the Premiership champions’ website. “I have been part of a team which has won four trophies. It’s been more than I could ever have asked for. Saracens are a massive club.”
Director of rugby Mark McCall was sad to see Day go and revealed he had done plenty of work that goes unseen during his time at Allianz Park. He said: “In particular he has played a key role in mentoring some of our younger players both on and off the field.”
