Danzeno is unlikely to feature in the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup on Saturday, according to his trainer Mick Appleby. The going is the reason the handler looks set to pull him out as the ground is already dry and there is no real rain forecast before the race is due off at Ayr.

It will be a blow to followers of the eight-year-old as he is getting back to some of his best form but Appleby says he’s likely to wait for more favourable conditions later in September.
“I don’t think he’s going to go, now the ground has dried up,” said Appleby. “He’d have run if the ground was good to soft. But it looks like it’s going to be good to firm, and if that’s the case he won’t be running.”
