FIFA has hailed Odion Ighalo’s performance in Al Hilal’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea in Wednesday night’s Club World Cup semi-final clash, reports Completesports.com.
Romelu Lukaku’s first half strike ended Al Hilal’s hope of winning the title for the first time.
Instead, the Asian champions will fight for third place when they do battle with Africa’s representative Al Ahly at the Al Nahyan Stadium on Saturday.

Ighalo was a thorn in the flesh of Chelsea defenders especially in the second half and had two goal bound shots blocked by Thiago Silva.
“Al Hilal’s trophy dream may be over at UAE 2021, but how they must be salivating over what Odion Ighalo may do in their hallowed blue shirt,”reads a statement on FIFA’s website.
“After a superb debut against Al Jazira, the Nigeria striker tormented Chelsea with his strength and ability to turn, producing two breathtaking flicks along the way.”

IF YOU ARE BIG,YOU ARE BIG!!! No amount of critism and hate from @Chinenye @Ugo Iwunze @Chima @JimmyBall @Mahmud and co can bring you down!!! LMFAO!
Olodo Monkey Post read between the lines. Did you even watch the match?
Odion Ighalo is still a very brilliant attacker and striker. I believe he still has a lot to offer Nigeria and the Super Eagles. His performance in the second half against Chelsea yesterday in the World Club Championship was really amazing.
And to think that some of them came here with their hate speech to lie about the guy performance is shocking.. Never knew a whole FIFA were closely monitoring the guy…Amunike and Eguavon hope you are taking note?? It must be Osimhe and Igalord partnership against Ghana. If the SE must scale through
Congratulations to us all fifa has finally approved Lookman to play for us , i pray we can see people that can talk to Victor Moses and possible Ighalo and Denise with Victor should be available for the match against Ghana. We need Victor Moses ,his experience matters a lot.
If this is true then the best news ever…..
Simon Moses/Lookman on the left wing with Chukwu and Ejike on the right. If Akinkunmi Amoo can join too, I think Ghana is in big trouble…
I also saw the game, Odion Ighalo was simply awesome. A plus to Nigeria that it didn’t go past the searching eyes of FIFA. Good luck Odion!
Your new coaches are busy looking for homebased and some of you are dreaming of Lookman. You better relax and watch the New Era. This is no longer Genet Rohr. It is Eguavon and Amunike. Home based must progress that is the new agenda.
The inflow of those foreign good guys will reduce.
Our players getting into good foreign clubs by the help of the national team coach will reduce.
But if they can select good homes who are tactical, fit and skilled then no problem about that. Not for them to select an old man who only manage to move to Poland division 2, play for season and move to Latvia league. From there off they go.
Odion produced yet another masterclass. Thank God he’s available for selection against the Black Stars.
Yes he shd be available, he literally dump his former club for refusing him to participate at the just concluded AFCON , that’s what I call patriotism, and yes because of him I watch the match yesterday, he was a thorn in the fletch of the Chelsea backline, they play Chelsea man for man, if not for the school boy mistake by their defender that give lukaku the goal.
Ademola lookman cleared.
Now, I hope we can have a replica of Victor Moses.
Although I am not a fan of Ighalo, it’s a no-brainer, the former Watford man is still very much needed in the Super Eagles.
He is a nuisance to defenders. His passing flicks also bring his strike partners into the picture to wreck havoc.
Based on how he performed against Chelsea, Ighalo proved that he is not yet an over-the-hill striker. His impact was a tour-de-force despite not scoring as it wasn’t for the want of trying. There is always ever one thing on Ighalo’s mind: to score goals.
Such hunger can definitely serve the Super Eagles well.
Amunike and Eguavon should please call ighalo for match against Ghana. They play hard anytime they play Nigeria. Even they don’t care to receive Red card. Our strikers must be stronger. And you remember what he did against Cameronians in Egypt 2019.
We need strong man like ighalo.
Wonderful Odion, God bless Nigerians.
