Patrick Cutrone is determined to score lots of goals for Wolves and feels he can learn plenty from his fellow strikers at the club. The 21-year-old joined the West Midlanders from Milan in the summer, with Wolves paying £16.2m for his services and the player penning a four-year deal.
He has made seven appearances to date – three in the Premier League and four in the Europa League – but has yet to find the back of the net.
The man capped once by the full Italy side made his first top-flight start at the weekend but could not prevent his team from going down 3-2 to Everton at Goodison Park.
The combative frontman put on a decent display and tested Toffees’ goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who was up to the task.
Cutrone can count Raul Jimenez, Diogo Jota and Pedro Neto among his team-mates and the youngster wants to garner as much information from his colleagues to help his quest for goals. “It is important to create a partnership with all of these wonderful players,” he said. “I’m here to learn from Jimenez, Jota and Neto. Together, we can do everything. “Everything here is different, but I’m here to learn, and I hope to score many goals.”
The Como-born ace was not prolific at his former club either, bagging 13 times in 63 Serie A outings, but he is still young and was just 19 when making his league debut for the Rossoneri.
Despite failing to get on the score sheet, Cutrone admits he loved everything about his first start in gold and black and already has one eye on his possible next outing when Wolves host Chelsea on September 14. “I enjoyed it. It was emotional, so I want to say thank you to the coach and my team-mates,” he added. “I was unlucky because the goalkeeper did a wonderful save. “I was desperate, but this is football, and I will think to the next game. We can do well.”
With the Molineux outfit also in the Europa League this term, it seems likely that Cutrone will see plenty of action when the group stage gets under way later his month.
He has already made one start in Europe’s second-tier competition and played five times in the Europa League for Milan last season, scoring four goals while he found the net six times from 13 outings in that competition in 2017-2018 despite his tender years.
