Ex-Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini will take up the role of loan player technical coach after a reshuffle in the backroom.
Cudicini was at the club in a dual role as a club ambassador and also an assistant to both Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri.
He will now take up the new job after Eddie Newton left to join Frank Lampard’s first-team coaching team.
The Italian played 141 Premier League games for Chelsea in a decade spell between 1999 and 2009, returning in 2015 in a backroom role. Cudicini said: “I’m really looking forward to this new challenge in my coaching career.
“The loan programme is an important part of our development pathway for young players at the club and this is an exciting opportunity to work with the next generation of talented players.”
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia added: “We are delighted Carlo has agreed to take over from Eddie Newton in this key role in our development programme.”
