Struggling Crystal Palace have sacked manager Patrick Vieira after 18 months in charge.
Palace confirmed Vieira’s sack in a statement released on Friday.
Vieira departed Palace after a run of 12 games without a victory in all competitions.
The last time Palace won a game was against Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve 2022.
That run saw Palace exit the FA Cup at the third round to Premier League bottom side Southampton, while they have slipped to within three points of the relegation zone.
The Arsenal legend’s last match in charge of Palace was a 1-0 loss to rivals Brighton, the fourth successive game in which the south London club have failed to score.
Palace failed to register a shot on target in three consecutive games against Aston Villa, Manchcester City and Liverpool – becoming the first Premier League to do so since Opta started recording data in 2003.
Commenting on Vieira’s sack, Palace chairman Steve Parish said in a statement: “It is with enormous regret that this difficult decision has been made. Ultimately, results in recent months have placed us in a precarious league position and we felt a change is necessary to give us the best chance of retaining Premier League status.
“That said, Patrick’s impact since joining us in the summer of 2021 has been significant, and he is held in the highest regard by myself, and all of his colleagues.
“He led the team to a Wembley FA Cup semi-final and respectable 12th placed finish last season playing some exciting football, which was a challenging and crucial campaign for the club given the changes we made to the squad prior to his arrival.
“Patrick has given his all to the club, and we all thank him and his team for their service.”
Palace’s next game is a trip to Premier League leaders Arsenal on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium

I feel bad for Mr. Patrick Viera. But he should hold his head high.
We love him!
I would suggest the NFF try and approach him for the job of our national team. I’m aware there are obstacles to that, as the whole world knows how corrupt and inefficient the system is, in Nigeria.
There is no harm in trying, though.
We have seen how much Mr. Viera loves Senegal, loves Africa, loves his race. He is a World Cup winner and will be fired up to qualify a team for The World Cup and coach in a World Cup. He speaks French and English fluently, so communication won’t be an issue. Our players will respect him, too.
I’m aware, he doesn’t have coaching experience at the national team level, but he has coached top division clubs in three different counties. Our own late Mr. Stephen Keshi did it with Togo. Cameroun was able to hire a high-profile ex-player Mr. Clarence Seedorf as their coach a few years ago.
Our ever-broke NFF should pull in a few corporate companies quickly and give it a shot.
It would be a far better venture than what we have currently.
I strongly support your opinion if it’s possible. He will be a good coach and will be able to convince young Nigerian Super Stars in Europe to opt for Nigeria because he will be commanding a lot of respect… besides being a very good coach.
Who did this to us in Nigeria? Are you telling me that Patrick Viera is better than Fidelis Ilechukwu or Kennedy Boboye? Even Imama Amakapabo will do a better job than Viera. Just because he is French doesn’t make him a better coach.
Viera is not a good coach, i have long waited for this sack, crystal palace dont deserve where they found their club in the premierleague table with viera incharge, interms of talent in possesion crystal palace is not far from arsenal, viera couldnt fashion out a consistent winning tactics for that team,! If you give ebere eze oliseh zaha even jordan ayew to guadiola by now they will be worthing milions in transfer market, chrystal palace should go for sam aladas or harry rednap, same situation applys to everton, good team with poor coaching
You spoke well Senior Man. Fidelis Ilechukwu would have managed players like ebere Eze, olise zaha even jordan ayew better.
