Bayern Munich’s loanee winger from Barcelona, Philippe Coutinho, hogged the headlines on Saturday after his world class performance in Bayern Munich’s 6-1 win over Werder Bremen – a matchday-15 Bundesliga clash at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.
Coutinho netted a hat-trick and provided assists for two goals scored by Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller.
Milot Rashica shot Bremen into the lead in the 24th with a delightful solo effort. Then Coutinho took over control of the game. He equalized for Bayern in the 45th minute, then set up Lewandowski to make it 2-1 few seconds later. And the seven-time champions led with that scoreline at halftime.
The Brazilian struck again to make it 3-1 in the 63rd minute. Lewandowski completed his brace of the game in the 72nd minute, while Thomas Muller’s 75th minute goal made it 5-1 for Bayern.
Coutinho competed his hat-trick in the 78th minute to ensure that the Hansi Flick’s men returned to winning way from back-to-back defeats is massive fashion. And he milked thunderous applause from the fans as he gave way for Sarpreet Singh in the 82nd minute.

“I think everyone in the stadium enjoyed his performance. It made me especially happy that the whole team celebrated together with him and shared his happiness from the heart,” interim manager Flick said of Coutinho’s heroic showing during the post-match press conference.
“He scored three goals and assisted twice. This is amazing. We are very happy with his performance.”
Lewandowski whose link-up play with Coutinho had Bremen’s defence reeling throughout the match also spoke glowingly about the man of the match.
“That was his game today, with the ball, with the movement. How he did it was outstanding. We need such a player,” Lewandowski told Bayern Munich’s website.
“I am very pleased that he showed how good he is and what great potential he has.”
