Ademola Lookman featured for Atalanta but could not replicate his recent scoring form as his side lost 1-0 to Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia quarter-final on Wednesday.
Lookman was introduced in the 54th minute for Mario Pasalic but failed to find a way past the Inter defence.
The Super Eagles forward has scored seven goals in his last four games going into Tuesday’s Cup tie.
It was a cagey quarter-final clash as Inter looked the better of the two sides in the first half and were regularly probing into Atalanta’s final third, but were wasteful in possession and their closest chance came when a Hakan Calhanoglu shot ricocheted off the post.
Atalanta also had a clear chance to take the lead but Duvan Zapata couldn’t guide the ball home.
Matteo Darmian eventually broke the deadlock in the 57th minute after placing his effort in the bottom corner.
Atalanta pushed for an equaliser but the Nerazzurri held firm, launching a few probing attempts of their own as they saw out the second half, limiting Lookman and his teammates to just counter attacks.
Inter will now face the winner of Juventus-Lazio in their Coppa Italia semi-final.
