Confederation of African Football (CAF) has congratulated Rivers United following their qualification to the last eight of the Confederation Cup with a game to spare.
In Sunday’s Group B match day five fixture, Rivers United held Diables Noirs of Congo Brazzavilleto a 2-2 draw at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium, Uyo.
A first half own goal by Rivers United Ghanaian left-back Emmanuel Ampiah gave Diables Noirs a shock I-0 lead.
But two quick goals from Nyima Nwagua in the 73rd and 77th minutes turned the game around for the Port Harcourt side.
But with eight minutes left Diables Noirs equalised which was not enough as Stanley Eguma side held on to go through.

And commenting after the game, CAF wrote on their Confederation Cup Twitter handle:”Rivers United Confederation Cup quarter-finals!
“The Nigerian side bag a qualification ticket.”
They will now face DR Congo side Motema Pembe in their final Group B game on April 1st.
