Juventus Suffer Heavy Defeat in Florence
Another bitter defeat for Juventus leaves fans reeling. Fresh off a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Atalanta, the Old Lady faced a further setback with a 3-0 loss in Florence, surrendering their grip on fourth place in the league. However, despite the heavy losses, coach Thiago Motta’s position is not under threat, as explained by sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli in his post-match remarks. “In these trying times, we all need to stand together, as it's during tough moments that we emerge stronger,” he told Sky Sport. “Naturally, we’re all deeply disappointed; we've performed poorly in the last two games, something we haven’t experienced before in this manner. Yet, we believe we can navigate through this, still rallying behind Thiago Motta.”
Giuntoli continued, “We embarked on a long-term project that involved refreshing our squad and reducing wages. We anticipated some challenges, but our primary goal remains clear: qualifying for the Champions League is still within our grasp.”
“We need to regain our balance,” he added. “It’s crucial to take a clear-headed look at what has transpired over the last fortnight. After our game against Verona, some were touting us as championship contenders, but two underwhelming performances have soured that narrative. We need a level-headed approach; over the coming days, we’ll meticulously review what needs fixing.”
“Just weeks ago, we had the league's strongest defence; conceding four goals in one match and three in another indicates we’ve lost our steadiness. But this is the first time we’ve faltered in consecutive games. We must restore our psychological and tactical equilibrium, and we’ll do that by returning to what worked before. The gaffer will lead the charge this week, and it’s vital we lend him our full support.”
Del Piero remarked, “This isn't the spirit of Juventus.”
