Caressa's Verdict on Thiago Motta's Exit: An Ideological Collapse
“This sacking wasn't just a technical swap; it signifies the collapse of an ideology.” So stated Fabio Caressa, the well-known Sky Sport journalist, as he shared his thoughts on Thiago Motta’s dismissal and the arrival of Igor Tudor as his successor on his social media. “Motta displayed an extreme level of presumption and an ideological stance; he tried to rewrite the club's narrative.”
Caressa asserted that Tudor’s appointment directly contradicts everything that has been undertaken thus far. “I’ve never been a fan of ideologies. They tend to impose a preconceived lens on reality, attempting to reshape it according to one’s beliefs.” There’s no mistaking Caressa's sentiments regarding Motta’s failure: “It’s evident that Motta's shortcomings also represent the downfall of this ideology.”
The choice of Tudor, according to Caressa, highlights a stark contrast: “Tudor is a vastly different coach. This decision repudiates all that has been espoused until now: the ideology of possession and progression clashed with reality.”
What particularly struck Caressa was the glaring issue: “Juventus has its own DNA, its unique identity. The philosophy needed to be tailored to fit Juventus, not the other way around! This simply does not work—never has! That’s why ideologies can be treacherous; they mistakenly believe they can alter history.”
Motta, as Caressa pointed out, made several missteps, most notably not nominating a captain because he assumed that role himself. “He prioritized his ideas over the reality. Football has shown time and again that ideologies don’t work in this realm.” He concluded ominously: “No ideologist has ever survived his ideology. I believe Thiago Motta won't be the only one paying for this.”
