Ademola Lookman’s father has attributed his son’s crowning as the best footballer in Africa to commitment and humility.
Lookman emerged Africa’s best player
at the CAF Awards 2024 ceremony Marrakech, Morocco on Monday night.
The 27-year-old joined the exclusive list of Nigerians including Rashidi Yekini, Emmanuel Amuneke, Victor Ikpeba Nwankwo Kanu and recently Victor Osimhen, who have won the award in the past.
The proud father eulogised his son for focusing on his job and shunning spotlight.

“I am proud of him as a father because he is a very committed player, he is very humble, he does not like too much publicity, because he really wants to focus on his football. And that is what has taken him to this level,” he lives score.
The dazzling winger scored three times as Nigeria reached the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations earlier in the year.
The former Fulham star also scored a historic hat-trick in the final of the UEFA Europa League to earn Atalanta their first-ever European silverware, and only the second major trophy in their 117-year history.
Lookman scored 17 goals and contributed 10 assists in 45 games across all competitions for Atalanta in the 2023-24 season and has made a similarly productive start to this campaign, finding the net 11 times in 19 club games as Gian Piero Gasperini’s team sit two points clear of Napoli at the summit of Serie A.

God bless you for the proper upbringing. Most of our foreign born players are well behaved compared to the Homebased superstars who will tint their hair or do million braids and threatens sportsfan who criticise their disgusting performance. Lookman is a great example of how footballers in Nigeria should behave.
