According to reports in the Netherlands, Southampton midfielder Jordy Clasie is wanted by AZ Alkmaar this summer. The Dutch giants are looking for a replacement for Adam Maher after he joined FC Utrecht this summer.
AZ head coach Arne Slot has moved quickly to try and rectify the issue and wants to bring in Clasie in the coming weeks. The ball-winning midfielder spent last season on loan at Feyenoord but they decided against signing him.
AZ are willing to pay a fee for his services but Clasie is hoping Southampton will release him from the final year of his contract. Southampton coach Ralph Hasenhuttl has plenty of options in the middle of midfield, with Stuart Armstrong, Mario Lemina, Oriol Romeu, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and James Ward-Prowse on his books.
