England hopeful Joe Clarke scored the first ton of the County Championship season as Nottinghamshire racked up 324-5 against Yorkshire. The 22-year-old, who moved to Trent Bridge from Worcestershire in the winter, remained 109 not out overnight, having got to his century off 165 balls with his 16th boundary.

Openers Ben Slater (76) and Ben Duckett (43) added 75 for the first wicket before Clarke excelled in his first Championship innings for his new county. South African paceman Duanne Olivier, making his Championship debut for the visitors, finished the day with 2-74, while Matthew Waite took 1-66 and claimed a catch to remove Duckett. England Test captain Joe Root (0-27) bowled 12 overs of off-spin without taking a wicket for the White Rose.
