Burnley are set to announce the signing of Stoke City’s out-of-favour Dutch international left back Erik Pieters. The 30-year-old was one of a number of ex-Premier League players who quickly fell out of favour at the Bet365 Stadium following Stoke’s relegation from the top flight 14 months ago.
Pieters ended the season on loan in France with Amiens, where he made 15 Ligue 1 appearances and scored one goal. He joined Stoke for £3million in 2013 from PSV Eindhoven and was a favourite of former Potters boss Mark Hughes. But he was sidelined under Gary Rowett and then Nathan Jones last season, before being shipped out on loan in January.

Pieters will provide competition for Charlie Taylor at left-back, and replace Stephen Ward, who recently joined Stoke after leaving Turf Moor on a free transfer.
