Burnley are reportedly closing in on the club-record signing of West Brom defender Craig Dawson. The Clarets are known to be long-term admirers of the 29-year-old and it appears they could now be set to land their man following West Brom’s failure to earn an instant return to the Premier League.
A fee of more than £15million could well be enough to convince Albion to part ways with Dawson and it seems Burnley are willing to pay that figure, which would break their current transfer record jointly held by Ben Gibson and Chris Wood.

Boss Sean Dyche certainly appears to have money to spend this summer, with Burnley looking to avoid the relegation battle they were embroiled in for much of the 2018-19 campaign, and it appears he would favour spending in the domestic market rather than looking abroad. Dawson would certainly fall into that category and Albion’s apparent need to trim down their squad could also play into Burnley’s hands.
