Samuel Chukwueze has impressively retained his status as one of the important players of Villarreal CF as head coach Unai Emery gets set to round off his preseason program with a match against Levante on Saturday, Completesports.com reports.
Levante will be the fifth and last preseason match for Villarreal before they host newly promoted SD Huesca in their first game of the 2020/2021 Laliga Santander season on Sunday, September 13.
The Yellows defeated Real Sociedad 2-0 in their fourth preseason friendly on Wednesday, and Emery remarked that his ‘big and important players’ asserted themselves finely and inspired the win.
Chukwueze takes pride of a place among Emery’s ‘big and important players’ following his great contribution in the match against Sociedad and in their previous preseason games. Aside an all-round good showing, the Nigeria international scored in their 2-1 loss to Valencia on August 28, and his dazzling displays plus a goal assist in Wednesday’s win were among the post-match talking-points at the club.
The club tweeted a short video on their Twitter handle, flaunting the heroics of Chukwueze, Dani Parejo, Moi Gomez and Javier Ontiveros in the convincing win against Sociedad.

Emery told the club’s website of the match: “The team put in a good performance generally, with a lot of big players in the first half. We’re feeling good and we need to continue working like this.”
He added: “We’ve used a number of ways of playing with youngsters who have been getting up to speed.

“The important players are getting match fitness and those who can have progressive importance are getting minutes and are gaining confidence.”
Chukwueze has featured prominently in Villarreal preseason program so far as Emery tested his squad with clashes against two Liliga SmartBank (second division) clubs, FC Cartagena and Tenerife , winning 3-1 and losing 3-2 respectively.
They lost 2-1 to Valencia before defeating another fellow Laliga Santander side, Real Sociedad 2-0.
Chukwueze will look to further justify Emery confidence in him as one of of his important players when Villarreal clash with their third top flight League opponent in the preseason, Levante, at their training ground, Mini Estadi, on Saturday.
