Samuel Chukwueze has expressed his delight after he was named Best African Player in the Spanish League for the 2022/23 season.
Chukwueze played a key role in Villarreal’s securing a place in the UEFA Europa Europa.
The Nigeria international scored 13 goals and provided 11 across all competitions for the Yellow Submarine.
“I feel so happy to win this award,” Chukwueze said.
“I’ve worked very hard this season, but I want to thank my teammates for making it possible. Without them this wouldn’t have been possible for me, the coach [Quique Setién] too. When the coach believes in you, and gives you the confidence to play and enjoy yourself, it really motivates you.
“But I think I can still do more,” he added. “I want to continue working hard. I’m still young, so I’m still learning. This is just the beginning.”
Chukwueze has also challenged himself to do more for the club next season.

Congratulations brother. Keep working hard. Hope You you guys (osimhen, awonyi and osigaol) would translate these great feats in our super eagles.
A beg rest. Chukwueze no too sabi. Marcus Abraham and Sunday Faleye are better options. Left to me, Chukwueze will be dropped.
Did they win best player in their respective clubs or did they win best Africa player as well.
Do u have idea how many Africa player are playing in spain?
Sunday Faleye will bench Chukwueze in any club, period .
Who be Sunday faleye again? All these Yoruba boys rooting for unknown and untested youngsters. This was how you guys underrated iwobi and wanted Aribo to be the man. Where’s Aribo again? Always give props to who’s due.Chukwueze has been amazing this season and on the radar of many top European clubs, which league is Falaye again?
