Chukwueze was granted an extended break by Villarreal after he featured for Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The club confirmed on Monday via the social media that the young winger has returned for pre-season training.
“He’s here! @chukwueze_8 started his special #YellowsPreseason training programme at the Training Ground after taking part in the Africa Cup of Nations with @NGSuperEagles. 🇳🇬 Great to have you back, Samu! 💪🏿💛⚽️,” reads a tweet on the club’s official Twitter handle on Monday.
Chukwueze broke into Villarreal’s first team last season after a string of impressive performances for the reserve side.
The 20-year-old scored five goals in 26 LaLiga appearances for the Yellow Submarines.
He scored one goal for the Super Eagles en route to their bronze medal finish at AFCON 2019.
