Chelsea took advantage of the slip ups by their top four rivals after Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City all drop points.
Sunday’s win against Villa was Chelsea’s first Premier League away win of 2020.
Despite edging the early exchange it was Villa who took the lead 43 minutes as Hause reacted quickest first to a rebound from his own shot to put the home team ahead.
In the 60th minute Chelsea were back on level terms after Pulisic volleyed in Cesar Azpilicueta’s deep cross.
And in the 62nd minute Chelsea completed the turnaround after Giroud swivelled inside the area and fired into the back of the net.
Sunday’s win took Chelsea’s points to 51 and are now five points ahead of Manchester United who are fifth.
