Chelsea will start the 2024/25 Premier League season with a huge game as they will host the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday 18 August.
This was confirmed after the organisers of the English topflight unveiled the fixtures for the 20 teams.
Chelsea would be hoping to end a dismal run against City whom they’ve not beaten since the 2021 UEFA Champions League final.
Since the win against City three years ago, Chelsea have gone nine straight games without managing to over Pep Guardiola’s men (seven defeats, two draws).
In their Premier League clashes last season, both teams played out a 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge and settled for a 1-1 draw at the Etihad.

Their third meeting of last season saw City pip the Blues 1-0 in the FA Cup semi-finals.
For the London derbies, Chelsea are scheduled to host Arsenal on Saturday 9 November, with the away trip to Tottenham Hotspur taking place nearly a month later on Saturday 7 December.
Arsenal will begin their campaign at the Emirates against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Newly promoted Ipswich Town will welcome Liverpool at Portman Road to start the 2024/25 season. Their last Premier League match 22 years ago was also against Liverpool.
For Manchester United they will begin the 2024/25 Premier League season with a Friday-night fixture, at home to Fulham.
