Kenneth Omeruo and Wilfred Ndidi have backed newly appointed Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle to guide the team to 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification.
The Super Eagles are winless in the African zone of the qualifiers.
The three-time African champions currently occupy fifth position in Group C with three points from four games.
Chelle was presented to the media by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, on Monday
“The new coach has something to give to the Super Eagles,” the Kasimpasa star said during a live session on his X handle, which he co-hosted with Ndidi.
“We saw a very organised Mali during our friendly match last year and at the AFCON.
“And now with the talent in Nigeria, we expect even more.”
Ndidi also shared the centre-back’s optimism.
“With our quality and the new coach, we will qualify for the 2026 World Cup,” the Leicester City star declared.
“It won’t be easy, but we’re all together in the task to qualify for the World Cup.”
The Super Eagles will resume their World Cup qualifying campaign in March with an away trip to Rwanda before a home game against Zimbabwe.

All you people vouching your support for a guy who hasn’t even kicked a single ball in anger with the SE are clowns – A typical cross-section of what Nigerians have been forced in today, due to all the failure and disappointment that this country has been subjected to for years on end – and so I do not blame many of you personally, after all we are all humans and can only respond like humans in given circumstances, however, this does not change my main point – which is that this Chelle guy has not even started and you are all jumping on a bandwagon that is yet to pull off – My advice to you all is to activate common sense and be patient, it wont be long now and we will see if he (Chelle) indeed has what it takes – I am not one of these to go off just on his record to date- whether good or bad, I mean that even is purely a case of how you want to see it, what tint are the specs you’ve got on.
Any one could use his record to paint a picture of a decent to good appointment who will sort the SE out and give what they have needed to come up and become more competitive, and at the same time, they could use the same record to show you a case of a desperado, who is the right candidate for an NFF body who are scrambling around to create an “illusion” of a fix which would be a “genius” move for them, if all they are trying to do is preserve their established status quo of stealing and robbing the nation dry- we all know this is what the leaders of Nigeria (in any and every capacity) have become so versed in doing and with good practice as it has been going on from very soon after our “independence”.
Nigerians have become the perfect “job lot” because they have become so conditioned by all the BS and hardship endured ever since that “independence” that probably don’t even know how anything could be better or recognise how bad things are, and neither can they any longer see what is really happening to them and how these crooks are taking advantage of Nigeria and leaving it’s people in abject suffering in all spheres of their lives and of life in general. By this, I don’t mean that they cannot see that things are hard without jobs, money, security of other basic things that other people in other nations take as a given, light power (NEPA) infrastructure, roads, security, jobs, industry and business that is truly beneficial to the general populace and not entrenched in and ruled by deep nepotism and selfish motivations(If you know you know)- And all this is right from the very top o! – just take a look at T-Pain’s example as the commander-in-chief and then you’ll have all the confirmation that you need.
I am not calling this either way, before those knuckleheads (and I know that there are a relentless number of them on this site and in Nigeria as a whole) start running their mouths, because, I for one know that anything is possible and this could be a genius move or just another chapter in the devious “cloak and dagger” deception that is now synonymous with our dear country, and so it would be foolish to make any strong declaration at this stage for so many reasons, among which are the facts like – I was not there and so I am not privy to what really went down and motivated this appointment, was it greed or an actual quest for improvement?
What are Chelle’s own plans and motivation for taking this job? – Bear in mind, that it could all still go wrong, even if his motivations are honest and honourable- there are mostly no guarantees in life and certainly not in football
There are many more reasons that I could list to support my stance here but I think it’s sufficient to just leave it here – if you know you will already know, if you have the capacity, you will already get it and if not, then not even a dissertation will be enough to convince or enlighten you.
Let me round up by saying – for me, and I advice all of you too- To adopt a sit and look mode at this more advanced stage in proceedings, it cannot be too much longer now before we start to see, what is really going on and therefore what has really gone on here, and so patience is the key phrase, we have all had to be patient for so long anyway, that now is not the time to get inpatient, when we actually now have some sort of movement – let’s wait and see how Eric Sekou Chelle’s appointment pans out before all throwing our hats in the ring and stop being, sentimental, emotional, acting out your frustrations, or just acting out of some sort of projected relief because until we see how Chelle performs, there is just no way of telling what we are in for right now, at this present point in time, and unless you are an insider who is part of this process like Pinnick and his other puppets or partners in cahoots, you cannot actually know what is about to unfold, and so the only thing to do is sit back, get comfy in your seat and brace yourself – this could either be very good or very bad – and I will go as far as to say that, because for all I know, and regardless of whatever motives or motivations are/were behind this move, it could possibly go well – why you might ask? Well the answer to that is obvious – Nigeria, is already blessed with the necessary raw materials by God, be that talent, resilience, ingenuity, or other resources, mineral and otherwise, and in this particular case (as is the same in all the others too), all we need is just the correct human input to coordinate and put things together sensibly and we will reap great rewards, so even if this is/was another attempt to pull the wool over unsuspecting/gullible Nigerian eyes and sensibilities, by God’s grace and if the human input (Chelle’s part to play) is right then this has every chance of going well for Nigerian football namely the SE’s at least but at the same time, we must remember (and this is not being pessimistic at all) what the default state has been in this country for so long now, a state of wickedness, greed, a lack of care for the now or the future, a lack of care for the general populace and their fates, a lack of care about the future generations, and just a depraved and deplorable bloody-mindedness about the way the leaders and those in positions to do anything in Nigeria have gone about their businesses for so long!
Na siddon look mode me dey. If na rough play make una stop am!

These 2 players, Omeruo and Ndidi have fallen hugely in form and should not be part of the Eric Chelle era of Super Eagles- so are incompetent to speak about Super Eagles abilities and capabilities.
Our Midfield should be made of: Raphael Onyedika, Fisayo Dele-Basiru, Alex Iwobi and possibly Frank Onyeka. Christantus of Getafe may also be drafted into the Midfield section. We need fast, energetic and fit players that can also score goals in the midfield, not the likes of Ndidi that has dipped in form. Omeruo too is old and weak and should not be part of SE Defence.
Dr. Drey and Mr. Hush, your comments are sorely missed.
If you’re alive and in good health, make unu try to dey show from time to time.
