Lyon midfielder Pape Cheikh has revealed he turned down the chance to join Tottenham to make the switch to the Ligue 1 side.
Reports suggested Spurs were looking to get a deal over the line for Cheikh while he was at Celta Vigo but Lyon managed to win the battle last summer for the player’s services.

Now enjoying his time in Lyon, Cheikh has now confirmed the previous interest from Tottenham but says he is happy he turned down a switch to north London for a move to France.
He told AS: “It was a hard decision. Tottenham also wanted me and the truth that their name sounded louder… but the idea of Lyon attracted me.
I knew it was a club that works with young people, you work with them, they help you grow. And I think I guessed right.”
