Southampton right-back Cedric Soares has reportedly emerged as a summer transfer target for Sporting Lisbon. The Saints paid £4.7million to sign Portugal international Cedric in 2015 and he was a regular first-team fixture during his first three-and-a-half years at St Mary’s, making 104 Premier League appearances.

However, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s arrival as manager in December seems to have spelt the end of the right-back’s career in England after he was shipped out to Inter Milan on loan for the second half of the campaign. It is now being rumoured the 27-year-old is heading for a permanent exit this summer and former employers Sporting are ready to take him back for a second stint at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.
No fee has been mentioned yet although it is claimed a bid around £4m would be enough for Southampton to allow the defender, whose contract expires in the summer of 2020, to leave.
